Evaluation of the proliferation of dedifferentiated cells of yellow bell pepper (capsicum annuum cv. pimentão amarelo)

Capsicum annuum is notable for its secondary metabolites, which can be of great interest for use in agriculture as alternatives to agrochemicals. Cell suspensions have been used for in vitro large-scale production of secondary metabolites. The aim of this study was to dedifferentiate leaf cells of Capsicum annuum cv. Pimentão Amarelo (yellow bell pepper) into calluses, and to study their growth pattern, focusing on the deceleration phase, when they can be subcultured to establish cell suspensions.

Plant phenolics in cancer chemoprevention

Phenolics are generally widely distributed in the plant kingdom and are the most plentiful secondary metabolites of plants. Plant polyphenols have pinched increasing attention due to their effective antioxidant properties and their marked effects in the prevention of a variety of oxidative stress related diseases such as cancer. The antioxidant content of fruits and vegetables may contribute to the protection they put forward from disease.

Morphology of the ileum, colon and rectum of silkworm (lepidoptera: bombycidae)

Silkworm is an insect whose cocoon is used as raw material in the textile industry. For the production of quality silk, a proper functioning of the digestive system is essential. This study examined the morphology of the hindgut chambers, with details of the area of the anal canal, which has been little studied in this important holometabola. The functional dynamism of the intestinal chambers can obscure important morphological characteristics. For this, segments of the hindgut were processed using light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.

Study on few commercially available honey samples and their quality parameters in Mysore City, Karnataka, India

Field-cum-laboratory investigations were made in Mysore city (120 181 N and 760 421 E) by selecting more than twenty places randomly and visited 38 shops/malls to collect the honey samples for their commercial quality parameters assessment by following standard methods. The honey type, brand/certification status, nutritional facts, physical, biochemical parameters and price of honey samples revealed interesting results.

Elucidation the toxicity mechanism of metal oxide and carbon-based nanoparticles with p53 protein using molecular docking approach

Metal oxide and carbon-based nanoparticles (NP) have a wide range of application in various fields, including paint, electroluminescent, pharmaceutical, and other industries. In the last decade, there is an exceeding demand of the applications using these particles in biomedical sciences such as in drug delivery system whereas these materials are also used widely in the environmental applications. Due to their extensive applications, these materials are the class of highest global annual production.
