Susceptibility of multi-drug resistant staphylococcus aureus to combined extracts of uvaria chamae, holarrhena floribunda and senna occidentalis

Multi-Drug Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a serious clinical problem because of its ability to acquire resistance to most antibiotics which consequently reduce treatment successes. In the present study, efficacy of combined leaf extracts of U. chamae, H. floribunda and S. occidentalis against five multi-drug resistant Staphylococcus aureus isolated from wound swabs was evaluated. The antibiogram was determined by Kirby Bauer technique while in vitro antibacterial efficacy of the plant extracts evaluated using agar well diffusion.

A chemical comparison of two naturally occurring pods as potential animal feed resources

Virtual disappearance of nutritious grass in the dry season in Zimbabwe is compensated by trees and shrubs which make an essential part of livestock rearing systems in smallholder farming communities. Appetite is shown to naturally occurring tree pods, Acacia sieberiana and Dichrostachys cinerea whose pods and leaves are highly palatable to cattle. The experiment compared and determined the chemical composition of these two species of pods as animal feed.

Effect of recombinant bovine somatotropin on heamotological values in kundhi buffaloes

This study was performed to investigate the effect of recombinant bovine Somatotropin (rbST) treatment on some haemortological in primaparous Kundhi buffaloes. Sixteen primaparous Kundhi buffaloes were divided into two groups keeping 8 animals in each group. Group-I served as control and Group-II was treated with 250 mg of rbST fortnightly for 166 days of 1st lactation. The rbST treatment was started after 60 days of lactation. Blood samples were collected every week during pre-treatment (average 60 days) and post-treatment (average 166 days) of 1st lactation.

Extraction, optimisation and dyeing of silk yarn using natural dye from cosmos sp

The use of natural dye decreased in last few decades due to the discovery of synthetic dye in nineteenth century. Recently, non toxic, environment friendly natural dye started receiving much attention in order to avoid hazardous petrochemical raw materials which involve in synthetic dye production and also its non biodegradable effluent. In this study, extraction of a natural dye from Cosmos sp flower was optimised. Pretreated silk yarn was dyed with aqueous extract of the dye.

Dengue fever (DF) is the most rapidly spreading mosquito-borne viral disease in the world. The illness was called ‘Water poison’ and was associated with flying insects near water. Outbreak of febrile illnesses compatible with dengue fever has been recorded throughout the world. The aim of the study to assess the level of knowledge on dengue and evaluate the health literacy intervention among rural residents. Family survey was carried out to assess the community knowledge and practice on dengue, Because Most of the people are unaware of sources of mosquito breeding.

Effect of solar treatment and different colors on callosobruchus chinensis on cowpea under storage condition

The exposure period of 24 hrs to solar energy in black and blue coloured bags was most effective to reduce adult emergence and infestation and to cause adult mortality of C. chinensis. The seed germination was also decreased with the increase in solar time exposures.

Study of diatom flora for the site identification of yamuna river at Delhi

In forensic science, analysis of diatom is a valuable tool used in diagnosis of drowning and Dumping cases. Diatoms are unicellular plants or micro-organism used in forensic science for differentiating anti-mortem from Post-mortem in drowning. Diatoms belongs to Bacillarophyceasae division of the family chrysophyta is a microscopic unicellular plants. In this study, the fresh water (Yamuna River) samples are collected in the different region of Delhi city and an attempt was made to create data of diatoms seen in the Yamuna river water bodies.
