Histopathological and oxidative features in alloxan-induced diabetic rats’ kidneys and the preventive effects of the 3,4-dihydroxy-phenylethanol

There is a big relationship between Diabete and renal dysfunctions and lesions. This study was designed to test the antidiabetic and antioxidative activities of 3,4-dihydroxy-phenylethanol in kidneys. Diabetes in Wistar rats was induced by intra- peritoneal injections of alloxan. The kidneys antioxidant parameters; thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS), catalase (CAT) and Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity (TEAC) were examined as well as the histological features.

Millennium development goals (MDGs): A road map to sustainable development in Nigeria

Nigeria which is the sixth largest producer/exporter of crude oil was rated as one of the richest 50 countries in the 1970s. But at the threshold of the 21st century, it has become one of the 25 poorest countries of the world. The country is characterized by high rate of poverty, poor infrastructural development, poor standard of education, and high rate of social vices.

Cloning and expression of two genes (NHAS2 AND NHAS4) isolated from SYNECHOCYSTIS SP. PCC 6803 in yeast

Two genes encoding Na+/H+ antiporter isolated from Cyanobacterial strain Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 were cloned and sequenced. These genes, namely, nhaS2 and nhaS4 were cloned into the pYES2 vector for expression in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Transgenic yeast was examined for their ability to survive under salt- stress conditions and their growth response to increasing levels of NaCl (0, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3M) for 7days, then the yeast growth was measured at OD600nm in spectrophotometer.

Retrieval of plantlets from cryopresesrved alginate buds of Nyctanthes arbor-tristis L.- an effectual approach for germplasm conservation

The escalating exploitation of medicinal plants for the extraction of imperative pharmaceuticals amalgam dictated the need of using encapsulated vegetative propagules for germplasm conservation and propagation. The present report is the first attempt in the production of synseed and subsequently affirming retrieval of healthy plantlets of Nyctanthes arbor-trisits L. In the current exploration, best encapsulated nodal segments were developed in calcium alginate gel composed of 3% (w/v) sodium alginate and 100 mM CaCl2.2H2O.

Resource use and technical efficiency of rice production in Manipur

Rice is regarded as the first cultivated crop in Asia as well as important food crop of India. The cost and return structure and technical efficiency in rice production has been reported in different regions as well as in the state of Manipur to show different regions have adopted the latest technology. Primary data have been collected from the sample rice farms with the help of pre-tested scheduled through personal interview with respondent farmers. Technical efficiency of individual farms has been estimated through stochastic production function analysis.

Evaluation of two forms of Sporisorium scitaminea sydow inoculum in sugarcane

Smut, caused by Sporisorium scitaminea Sydow, is one of the main destructive diseases in sugarcane (Saccharum spp.). To assess the resistance of sugarcane to smut, two different isolates of S. scitaminea were inoculated to sugarcane plants by means of pin-prick dipping in nodal buds. Data on the disease latent period and disease incidents per population were recorded and analyzed. Results showed the inoculum used in the present study was the S. scitaminea race 2 according to the resistance levels of standard control varieties F134 and NCo310.

Tennis serve performance in rested and exhaustion conditions of college-level players

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of rested and physical exhaustion conditions on accuracy and speed of tennis serve performance among college-level players.
Design: A repeated measures design with control and experimental groups was used to determine the effects of physical exhaustion on tennis serve performance.

Structural evolution and strain pattern in sheared gneissic-graniticcomplexes and felsic volcanics of Babina-Prithvipur area, Bundelkhand Craton, central India

The sheared Bundelkhand gneissic complex of Meso to Neoarcheanage (3.4-3.1Ga) and mylonitisedmetasedimentary-felsic volcanics and granitoids of Precambrianto Palaeoproterozoic age are recognizedas important rock units in the study area. The older TTG and streaky gneisses having inclusions of mafic, ultramafic, amphibolites and quartzite were affected by three phases of folding under three regional compressive tectonic episodes (D1-D3).

Optical interpretation of diminishing and non diminishing of remote objects and their representation in painting landscape

The geometry of painting landscape remains one of the long standing problems that cannot be explained theatrically. This work is devoted to use geometrical optics to explain this aspect. It utilizes eye geometry to explain why the horizon appears as an infinite line, and also explains why sky meat earth surface at a point. besides showing the reason that makes large mountains does not converge to a point far from human eye vision.

Performance of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) as influenced by various resource constraints

Groundnut the “king of oilseeds” is grown on area of 4.60 million hectares with the production of 4.8 million tonnes during the year 2014-15. Among the various agronomic practices, fertilizer, weeding and plant protection play important role in maximizing the pod yield. Keeping in view all the facts, the study of performance of groundnut as influenced by resource constraints was formulated in RBD design in three replications with 8 different treatments. The results in the present investigation revealed significant differences in respect of pod yield for all the treatments studied.
