The paper aims to capture the essence of political economy of health with the sighting theoretical underpinnings of different schools of thought – Marxist, Cultural Critique and Development of the underdeveloped. It further attempts to reflect on the way in which Indian health professionals and thinkers in the field engage with the discourse.
This study explores the perceived impact of workplace conditions and leadership in the private colleges in Muscat, Oman on teachers' professional development. Questionnaires and interviews were the two research techniques used to collect the needed data. Random sample including three directors of Language Centers and 64 teachers from five private colleges participated in the study. The findings of this study revealed that workplace conditions have a positive impact on staff professional development.
Objectives: To verify the anxiety and depression and the related factors among nursing professionals of a Brazilian neonatal intensive care unit. Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional and quantitative study. In a sample (n = 26) of nursing workers, a form was used for socio demographic and occupational characterization; and applied the Brazilian version of the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale. To the data tabulated, we performed descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. Results: Anxiety and depression were present in 13 (50%) and seven (26.9%) professionals, respectively.
The present study has tried to find out if there is any influence of family relationships on risk taking behavior among college students of Kolkata. The study has further investigated if there is any role of gender and living status on risk taking behavior. A sample of 100 young students (50 males, 50 females) has been selected purposively from different colleges of Kolkata. Two standardized tests, namely, “Family Relationship Inventory” by Sherry and Sinha (1971) and “Risk Taking Behavior Scale” by Weber, Blais and Betz (2002) have been administered.
Fibroepithelial polyps of the vulva are rare. These lesions are benign; with a rare risk of recurrence. The aspect has similarities with malignant lesions. A complete resection with a surveillance are recommanded. We report this case to discuss the characterestics of those lesions especially of giant fibro epithelial polyps. It's a case of a 34 years old female patient. She presented a large mass of the left labia majora measuring 20 cm in diameter. The lesion was excised, and the histopathological diagnosis was about a fibroepithelial polyp.
A gas detector is a device that detects the presence of gases in an area, often as part of a safety system. This type of equipment is used to detect a gas leak or other emissions and can interface with a control system so a process can be automatically shut down. A gas detector can sound an alarm to operators in the area where the leak is occurring, giving them the opportunity to leave. This type of device is important because there are many gases that can be harmful to organic life, such as humans or animals.
With urban growth also increases without waste disposal that need to be reused as the tannery sludge and wastewater. Thus, the tanning humus sludge and wastewater are possible to be added to the soil. The objective was to evaluate the effect of tannery sludge vermicompost in the chemical properties of soil cultivated with tomato and irrigated with wastewater. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial 6 x 2, totaling twelve treatments with three replications.
Introduction: During clinical practice, we can find patients with physical and mental behaviors who are not able to co-operate with dental care. Among them the anxiety and immaturity of children, which are the most frequent in the care. In order for us to achieve ease, safety and tranquility for the development of procedures, we may choose to use conscious sedation through premedication or sedation with nitrous oxide / oxygen. Thus, they are used in an adequate way so as not to compromise the patient's health. It is considered effective and great for pediatric treatments.
This paper highlights the importance of carrying out a meta-analysis in epidemiologic research of a non-common outcome without the loss of study/ies due to insufficient data. A good number of researches have adequately covered common disease outcomes in a meta-analysis, however, non-common disease outcomes have not been well determined.
Objectives: The aims of this study were to compare the endotelial structure and central corneal thickness in diabetic and non-diabetic subjects, and to evaluate the effect of retinal laser photocoagulation in patients with diabetic retinopathy on endotelial structure and central corneal thickness. Methods: Subjects were recruited from Al-Naser Eye Hospital, 110 eyes were examined and classified into three groups: diabetic, non-diabetic and diabetic retinopathy treated with laser photocoagulation.
