Water quality in the tietê river watershed, são paulo state, Brazil

The monitoring of surface water quality aims to identify problems and seek solutions to improve the quality of life and environmental health. Objective: To evaluate the water quality in the Tietê River Watershed in the metropolitan region of São Paulo. Methodology: The water quality parameters data of 48 samples obtained in the São Paulo State Indoor Water Quality Report of the São Paulo State Environmental Company in 2018 were evaluated. Eight monitoring points were analyzed.

Prevalence of neurosurgery complications in the immediate postoperative at the intensive care unit

Neurosurgical patients are at significant risk of complications in the postoperative period. Knowledge of these events is essential, since most complications can be recognized and treated early, which increases patient survival. Methodology: Retrospective descriptive study with a quantitative approach, performed in a public oncology reference hospital in the state of Pará. The information sources were medical records of patients in the immediate postoperative period of neurosurgery admitted to the intensive care unit. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics.

Early neonatal sepsis: risk factors, with emphasis on streptococcus agalactiae infections among pregnant women

Objective: Determine the prevalence of vaginal and rectal colonization by Streptococcus agalactiae (SGB) and determine risk factors for the development of early neonatal sepsis. Methods: The study considered pregnant women seeking obstetric services in a maternity school in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. The study was divided into two phases: i) material collection from the vaginal and anorectal regions using swabs, to be cultured on agar-blood plates, to determine the prevalence of SGB among 60 patients after the 28th week of pregnancy.

Development of wood plastic composite with reduced water absorption

In this work, wood-plastic composites were developed using plastic lumber (recycled high-density polyethylene, or rHDPE) and wood residues (sawdust). First, raw materials were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Second, the formulations of rHDPE/sawdust (100/0, 80/20, 60/40, 50/50, 40/60, weight percentage) were mixed manually and processed by extrusion in a twin-screw extruder (TeckTril, DCT model) equipped with ten temperatures zones. The pelletized samples obtained by extrusion were pressed to obtain the films.

Análise da correlação espacial do covid-19 com aspectos sociais no estado do tocantins, Brasil

Resumo: Estudo realizado com objetivo de analisar a dinâmica espaço temporal do COVID-19 e sua correlação espacial em relação aos índices de vulnerabilidade social no estado do Tocantins. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo ecológico, transversal onde foi realizado as analises, temporal, índice de moran local bivariado e estimador de intensidade de Kernel para os casos de COVID-19 no estado do Tocantins no ano de 2020.

The application of david a. kolb’s experiential learning model to teach the science subject in primary schools for students’ competency development: results from a pedagogical experimental study in ho chi minh city, Vietnam

Organizing experiential activities and developing students’ competencies are the two main concerns in the renovation of the General Education Curriculum at the primary level. Particularly, experiential activities are the learning theory that lies at the heart of education with an orientation toward the development of students’ competencies. They provide detailed guidelines to develop students’ foundational experience toward the learning outcomes of the subject and the education level, thus, developing competencies.

Medical internship and pediatric residency teaching during the covid-19 pandemic: reflections from Brazil covid-19 and medical education

This article aims to present reflections regarding medical education on internship and pediatric residency in the Brazilian scenario, in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is, therefore, a documentary report complemented with the authors’ experiences, which focused on interns and pediatric residents upon medical teaching challenges, the impact of cancellations, online activities and medical competencies.

Acute odontogenic maxillary synusitis: case report

Introduction: Caries, periodontal disease, endo-antral syndrome, oro-antral fistula, odontogenic cysts and iatrogenesis are odontogenic factors that can evolve to sinusitis. This paper aims to report the clinical case of a patient diagnosed with acute odontogenic sinusitis in which surgical maneuvers were used to close the oral communication and remission of the infectious condition.

Mudanças no ensino de enfermagem em decorrência da pandemia por covid-19: relato de experiência em um curso do interior do tocantins – Brasil

Introdução: A pandemia por COVID-19 causou grandes mudanças no modelo de ensino, e a tecnologia foi a principal aliada nesse processo para minimizar os possíveis prejuízos para a formação profissional. Objetivo: Descrever o processo de mudança na metodologia de ensino em um curso de enfermagem de uma Instituição de Ensino Superior do interior do Tocantins, Brasil. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, de abordagem qualitativa, do tipo relato de experiência.
