The outbreak of a pandemic like COVID-19 in world has resulted in bringing changes even to the social connections of an individual. The measures adopted to prevent the diseases like isolation is weakening an individual’s social capital or the "connections among individuals – social networks and the norms of reciprocity and trustworthiness that arise from them.”1This weakened social support has triggered mental health issues in many individuals. The methods to tackle a person’s stress by expanding his Self-awareness and integrity would be beneficial in this situation.

As ações afirmativas para povos indígenas no ensino superior: a construção de uma invisibilidade cultural

Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar uma reflexão do processo de execução das ações afirmativas para indígenas na Universidade Federal do Maranhão - UFMA que se inicia de forma não dialogada com os povos indígenas. A pesquisa se desenvolveu através do acompanhamento de estudantes indígenas mulheres em seu percurso na universidade. Os poucos indígenas que conseguem adentrar nos espaços acadêmicos enfrentam diversos desafios e dificuldades, desde a ausência de bolsas ao acolhimento acadêmico como, também, a invisibilidade étnica nos espaços universitários.

Epidemiological characterization of individuals with amputations in Northeastern Brazil

Amputation is the partial or total removal of a limb, which may occur surgically or traumatically. Its causes are related to diverse etiologies: vascular, neuropathic, traumatic, tumoral, infectious, congenital. The present study aimed to analyze the epidemiological profile of 43 persons with amputations, of both sexes, from the city of Aracaju, Sergipe, Brazil. The investigated data were sociodemographic variables and information about the amputation, obtained through questionnaires.

Objective: Desvelar os sentimentos e estratégias de enfrentamento vivenciados por mulheres diagnosticadas com câncer de mama. Método: Estudo descritivo, com abordagem fenomenológica qualitativa, realizado com quatorze mulheres, entre 38 e 63 anos, com diagnóstico de câncer de mama atendidas em uma instituição filantrópica em João Pessoa. As entrevistas foram realizadas com a pergunta norteadora: Quais foram seus sentimentos e estratégias para lidar com o diagnóstico de câncer de mama?

An mhealth system to support health education aiming the treatment of obesity in adults

The purpose of this article is to present an mHealth system based on the Transtheoretical Model of Behavior Change, on persuasive technologies and on mobile design heuristics for touch screen devices to promote healthy habits and obesity reduction. The research was descriptive and explanatory with applied nature and quantitative approach. Regarding technical procedures, a quasi-experimental research was characterized. A pilot study was conducted with a sample of 58 users, organized into two groups with different levels of intervention.

Anxiety and eating disorders during the quarantine of Covid-19: an observational study

During quarantine, imposed in a pandemic situation by COVID-19, fears, and uncertainties, in addition to social isolation, are characterized as risk factors for the mental health of the general population and the effects can be felt through the manifestation of conditions anxious, depressive or even binge eating. Binge eating can be caused by anxiety, especially during quarantine, and the act of eating is often linked to a way of relieving negative feelings.

Neste trabalho objetiva-se refletir sobre como os professores têm utilizado as TDIC no processo pedagógico durante esse período, conhecer os desafios mais prementes e construir caminhos possíveis.

Immunophenotyping in a population of blood donors applied to transfusion medicine

Objective: To determine the immunophenotyping of a population of blood donors, intended to build a database for transfusion medicine. Show the importance of erythrocyte immunophenotyping as prevention of alloimmunization. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out on 11,664 blood donors for the ABH system typing and of these, 1255 blood donors were selected randomly for the determination of blood group antigens of the Rh system and Kell antigen. Blood centrifugation methods, centrifuge hemolysis tube test and indirect Coombs test were used for blood typing.
