The Work And The Interpersonal Relationships With Patients Presenting Alcohol-Related Disorders

Objective: The objective of this study was to identify the attitudes of Primary Health Care professionals toward the work and interpersonal relationships with patients who present disorders related to alcohol use. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study that was performedthrough the application of two questionnaires in a non-probabilistic sample of 489 health professionals working in Primary Health Care in the city of Uberlândia, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Results: Data analysis allowed identifyingthat the professionals presented negative attitudes toward the work with these patients.

Variations in the prevalence of isolated human papillomavirus genotype in cervical cancer specimens: a review

The uterine cervix represents a pathologically important part of the uterus because of the high prevalence of cervical cancer worldwide. The epithelium of the cervix can be infected by sexually transmitted oncogenic types of human papillomavirus (HPV). These virus cause persistent infection of the cervical epithelial cells and this leads to viral cytopathic changes associated with atypia (koilocytic atypia) in the infected cells. This is referred to as squamous intraepithelial lesions which can be low grade or high grade depending on the severity of koilocytic atypia.

Hypertensive Elderly: Evaluation Of Functional Capacity In The Family Health Strategy

Objective: To analyze the functional capacity of hypertensive elderly assisted in the Family Health Strategy. Method: Descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative research with 359 hypertensive elderly patients. Instruments were used to characterize the elderly as to demographic characteristics and life habits, basic activities of daily living, instrumental activities of daily living and advanced activities of daily living. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee.

Knowledge and barriers to uptake of cervical cancer screening among women at koginga fish landing site in homa bay county, Western Kenya

Background: Cancer of the cervix remains a major public health problem among women worldwide especially in developing countries and in Kenya, there are about 2,454 new cases and 1,676 annual deaths. The potential areas of new cases include fish landing sites, where there are high prevalence of sexually transmitted diseases due to promiscuity. However, knowledge and barriers to cervical cancer screening in the fish landing sites have not been assessed despite the vulnerability of the population.
