Comparative and correlative study of computerized tomographic scan findings and intropearative findings in patients with inflammatory sinonasal diseases

Background: Inflammatory sinonasal diseases (ISD) refer to a group of disorders characterized by inflammation of the mucosa of the PNS. Acute ISD are defined as sudden in onset and duration less than 3 weeks. Recurrent acute infections are defined as four or more attacks per year lasting greater than 7-10 days. Chronic is defined as duration of symptoms more than 12 weeks Materials and methods: The present prospective study was conducted in the department of ENT JSS medical college and hospital. The study was conducted from a period of Nov 2012 to June 2014.

A study of the variation of serum uric acid in patients with and without diabetes mellitus who have normal renal function

1) Correlation of Serum Uric acid with Creatinine levels in male Diabetic population r=-0.048 and p>0.05 shows no significant correlation between serum uric acid and Creatinine levels. While in females r=0.270 and p<0.05 shows significant positive correlation between serum uric acid and Creatinine levels. 2) The correlation of Serum Uric acid with age in male Diabetic population r=- 0.0175 and p>0.05 shows no significant correlation between serum uric acid and age.

Clinical, epidemiological and vertical transmission rate of HIV-Infected pregnant

The human immunodeficiency virus epidemic has been increasing in Brazil, especially in women of childbearing age, the identification and follow-up of these women is an important aspect during prenatal care. This study describes the clinical, epidemiological profile and the vertical transmission rate of pregnant women infected. Descriptive and retrospective study was carried out involving 233 pregnant attending a prenatal care center in Brazil from January 2010 to December 2015.

Characterization and sensorial analysis of diet cookies prepared with different levels of cumbaru nut

The objective of this work is to prepare diet cookies with cumbaru nut as an ingredient in replacement for wheat flour used in the traditional formulation, analyzing its physical-chemical composition and sensorial acceptance. Cookies were composed of five different formulations: F1 = Standard formulation (0%) - without addition of cumbaru nut, and the others with the addition of 2.5% (F2), 5% (F3), 7.5% (F4) and 10% (F5) of cumbaru nuts. The products were submitted to sensory analysis.

Effect of monitored physical activity in chagas disease patients with blended sensor pacemaker – a randomized controlled trial

The study analyzed the effect of regular and monitored physical activity in patients (P) with Chagas disease (CD) and chronotropic incompetence using a blended sensor pacemaker. This was an open-label, longitudinal, prospective and randomized clinical trial. The 43 out of 50 selected P were evaluated in pre-ambulatory and 120 days after the randomization. 24 Pwere allocated to group G1 (with exercise activity - walking for 50 minutes at least 3 times per week) or G2 (without exercise activity; 19 P).

Nutritional profile of adults assisted by primary health care in the period from 2007 to 2016

The aim of this study was to evaluate the nutritional profile of adults assisted by primary health care in the period from 2007 to 2016, A cross-sectional, retrospective study was conducted, based on previously collected data. To evaluate the nutritional status, the body mass index was used, and for cardiovascular risk assessment, the waist circumference index/sex was used. The samples was made up of 9.301 adults, of both sexes, with predominance of the female sex (76.2%).

Influence of violence on the mental health of Brazilian immigrant women in Portuga

This study aimed to analyze the prevalence of violence against Brazilian immigrant women in Portugal since their arrival, and the consequences of this in their experience, specifically in health, perception of discrimination and loneliness. The sample comprised 682 Brazilian women, migrants, over 18 years old, living in Portugal for more than three months.

Equality and its implications: A focus on access to health services

In this article, we seek to discuss one of the principles that compose the prevailing ethical-political orthodoxy, which is equality among all human beings. The highlight is on the theory of philosopher Peter Singer. The aim was to analyze whether access to health services in Brazil respects the ethical principles of equality and equity. Equality is the desired consequence of equity, being the latera starting point for the former. That is, it is only through the recognition of the differences and the diverse needs of the social subjects that equality can be achieved.
