A cronificação do HIV/AIDS torna mais frequente as relações entre os sorodiscordantes e com a descoberta da soropositividade os casais precisam desenvolver estratégias para diminuição da vulnerabilidade do risco sexual. O presente estudo objetivou identificar os comportamentos chave de vulnerabilidade para infecção por HIV/AIDS em casais sorodiscordantes, e elaborar um protocolo de planejamento sexual e reprodutivo.

English language teaching and webquest methodology: a possibility for inquiry-oriented activities on the web

This article is about the teaching of English Language (EL) through the use of active methodologies, in particular the WebQuest Methodology (WQM). It is part of a Professional Master Degree's research of a Graduate Program of the Federal University of Maranhão (UFMA), including new discussions. The aim of this study is to reflect and raise methodological possibilities to English classes in the digital age considering the concept of active methodologies teaching. This is a bibliographical research regarding the procedures and exploratory type relating to the objectives.

Impact of harmonium playing on neck disability in harmonium players

Background. Performance related musculoskeletal pain and discomfort are prominent amongst musicians. Playing a harmonium requires muscle strength to play the instrument for hours and maintain the body posture for the same. This may make the musicians prone to neck pain and discomfort. Pain and discomfort are the problems that musicians face while playing the instrument. Adapted body posture while playing the instrument may lead to bad posture which may further increase pain in body parts like neck and back. Purpose.

Risk factors for aspiration pneumonia in home care patients

Aspiration pneumonia is both a form of community-acquired and healthcare-associated pneumonia, and a leading cause of death among ageing populations. Home care comprises services for older people with disabilities, including chronic degenerative diseases. This study evaluated the risk factors for Aspiration Pneumonia in patients who were at Home care service in a facility in Salvador, northeast Brazil.

Análise da violência contra as mulheres do amazonas no contexto da pandemia

A violência contra as mulheres tem se agravado, em termos gerais, no contexto da pandemia da COVID-19. No entanto, os efeitos desse agravamento não ocorrem da mesma forma e magnitude quando se considera os locais de residência das vítimas e as suas possibilidades de acesso aos serviços e redes de apoio. Este artigo examina como esse fenômeno vem ocorrendo no estado do Amazonas, situado na região norte do Brasil, considerando os registros de casos para Manaus (capital) e para os demais municípios.

Acupuncture in anxiety levels of women with breast cancer: a randomized pragmatic study

Breast cancer has multi-dimensional aspects, representing the first mortality cause by neoplasia among women, and frequently triggering off conditions of anxiety, depression and fear. The objective of this study was to assess the effects of acupuncture in the treatment of anxiety in women with a diagnosis of breast cancer. This is a randomized clinical trial composed by 46 women with breast cancer, 22 in the experimental group, and 24 in the control group.

On the meaning of pain – guilt in chronic sufferers: does pain mean punishment?

Introduction: The meaning of the word “pain” has an intrinsic component of punishment, penalty, sanction, suffering and torment. Objective: To investigate if pain is perceived by chronic pain patients as a punishment and thus associated with a feeling of guilt. For that purpose, an inventory to detect and quantify guilt was applied to subjects with chronic pain, to individuals with chronic tinnitus and to healthy controls, and results were compared.

Diagnosed multiple myeloma in a young woman: a case report

Introduction: Multiple myeloma is a malignant plasma cell neoplasm, accounting for 1% of all cancers, is a disease of predominance in older adults, with a median age at diagnosis between 65–74 years and only 2% of patients are under 40 years of age. with this case we provide unusual scientific evidence due to epidemiological data of the age of presentation of the pathology, being very interesting for the medical literature as well as other characteristics.

Membrana de fibrina leucoplaquetária autóloga: avanços no tratamento de feridas crônicas de membros inferiores

Objetivo: avaliar a utilização da membrana de fibrina como indutor da cicatrização de feridas crônicas de membros inferiores. Método: Foram recrutados 16 voluntários com feridas crônicas em membros inferiores e separados de forma randomizada em dois grupos. O grupo A que recebeu a limpeza da ferida, debridamento dos bordos com gaze e solução salina eo grupo B que além da limpeza da ferida também recebeu membranas de fibrina obtidas conforme o Protocolo Fibrin®.

Pre anesthetic assessment: study on the influence of preoperative approach on patient satisfaction during the covid-19 pandemic

Anesthesiology provides absence of or relief from pain and other sensations to patients who need to undergo medical procedures. Those who specialize in this area have been expanding their fields of action not only intraoperatively, but also pre- and postoperatively. Recently, going to pre-anesthetic office was implemented as mandatory for anyone who undergo surgery. However, the COVID-19 pandemic made attending to such meetings difficult, so many of them were done online.
