Reflexão sobre o deslocamento do fonoaudiólogo: da clínica tradicional para a clínica de linguagem

Esta pesquisa buscou refletir sobre a prática terapêutica adotada por uma fonoaudióloga durante o atendimento de seis crianças (distribuídas em dois grupos) com dificuldades em leitura e escrita numa Clínica de Fonoaudiologia da Prefeitura Municipal de Americana - SP. A investigação é qualitativa e seguiu a metodologia empregada pelo interacionismo brasileiro, de forma que as sessões foram filmadas, transcritas e, posteriormente, analisadas.

Causal factors of under diagnosis in cachectic patients affected by cancer of the gastrointestinal tract

Cancer is a chronic multifactorial disease, characterized by the uncontrolled proliferation of cells occurring in different regions of the body, among them in the gastrointestinal tract, related to this cachexia is a syndrome that is characterized by weight loss, lipolysis, muscle atrophy, anorexia, chronic nausea and asthenia. This study aimed to assess the occurrence of underdiagnosis of cachexia in cancer patients. For this purpose, 13 medical records were analyzed, evaluating admission characteristics and nursing developments.

Pisa syndrome in the evolution of parkinson's disease: A case report

Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized as a neurodegenerative disease marked by motor and non-motor signals. Due to the advancement of motor symptoms, a patient with PD may develop postural abnormalities, such as Pisa Syndrome. Little is known about the pathophysiological mechanisms that cause such complications, however, theories about the etiology are now consolidated in the exploratory field of neuroscience.

Nutritional psychiatry: connecting depression and heart failure with the science of nutrition

Nutritional Psychiatry is a term used to describe a field of research, and a way of approaching the prevention and treatment of mental illness, which focuses on diet and nutrition. Among the complexity of the determinants of Mental Health problems, the emerging evidence from Nutrition shows relevant factors in the high prevalence of mental disorders, suggesting that diet is as important for Psychiatry as for Cardiology, Endocrinology and Gastroenterology.

Assessing the oral health status of patients hospitalized in intensive care units

Aim: Assessing the oral and systemic health of patients hospitalized in intensive care units. Methods: Cross-sectional study focused on examining the oral health and associated systemic conditions, as well as general data collected from medical records of a convenience sample encompassing 175 critical patients. Procedures were performed by a single examiner for 21 months. Collected data were recorded in individualized forms for further tabulation (Excel software) and descriptive statistical analysis in percentages (R software).

Efeito da idade, escolaridade e exercício físico, na memória, atenção seletiva, em mulheres idosas fisicamente ativas

O objetivo foi avaliar o efeito da idade, escolaridade e Exercício Físico, na memória, atenção seletiva, em mulheres idosas fisicamente ativas. Metodologia: A pesquisa contou com 50 idosas acima de 60 anos ativas matriculadas no projeto Universidade Aberta de Terceira Idade (UniATI). Para a coleta de dados foram aplicados os testes MEMO, STROOP e VELOTESTE. Foi utilizado ANOVA one-way, Post-hoc e Correlação de Pearson. Resultado: Foi constatado que as idosas com idade média de 62.36±1.02, apresentaram melhores resultados nos testes de memória e atenção seletiva.

Yield of tuberculinic test between tuberculosis contacts in a basic health unit

Objective: To describe the Tuberculinic test yield, between contacts of Tuberculosis treated in a Basic Health Unit. Methodology: It is a descriptive, cross-sectional, quantitative study carried out in a Basic Health Unit, in the capital of a state in the Brazilian Northeast. Data collection was of the secondary type, using forms from the Health Department of the municipality, which was under the study, when the contacts of Tuberculosis performed the Tuberculinictest, in local action. Results: One hundred and thirty-three contacts were examined, of which 62.4% were households.

Analysis of oxidative stress biomarkers in caries-free and caries-active children and adolescents

In the presence of dental caries, there may be an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the ability of antioxidant enzymes to eliminate them, defined as oxidative stress, which can cause tissue damage. Several biomarkers have been used to assess oxidative stress, such as the antioxidant capacity of saliva (CAT) and salivary uric acid (SUA). The objective of this work was to evaluate the relationship between the antioxidant capacity of saliva (CAT) and salivary uric acid (SUA) with dental caries.

Cesarian section in a sow with uterine torsion and vaginal prolapse

The incidence of vaginal prolapse in sows is low and their predisposition may be associated with the delivery process, while uterine torsion is rare and can lead to fetal death. The article describes the procedure performed on a sow that presented with vaginal prolapse. During transvaginal palpation there was a cervical opening, but palpation was prevented at some point. This led to the suspicion of uterine torsion and an emergency cesarean section surgery was performed, where the diagnosis was confirmed. Seven piglets were born with life and a mummified fetus.

The vicious circle due to COVID-19 is making grave havoc all over the world. The immense suffering and unimaginable financial catastrophe with loss of million lives and more millions infected, the world seemed trembling tremendously. In addition to this, concurrent wild fires in USA, Brazil and Australia, and frequent floods & hurricanes with vigorous thunderstorms must make people of the world to think otherwise. There is no explanations about why all these happenings at a time. The Holy Scriptures mention answer.
