Fatores associados à sífilis em mulheres atendidas em uma unidade saúde da família em Salvador, Bahia, Brasil

Este estudo objetivou investigar os fatores associados à ocorrência de sífilis em mulheres da Unidade Saúde da Família (USF) San Martin, no município de Salvador, Bahia, que realizaram Exame Papanicolau (EP) no período de janeiro 2015 e 09 de março de 2018. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, exploratório, cuja amostra foi selecionada por conveniência. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio da aplicação de um questionário e da obtenção dos resultados do exame clínico das mamas, do exame ginecológico e do teste rápido para sífilis e HIV 1 e 2.

Barriers affecting effective stroke rehabilitation in kerala

Introduction Stroke is a major life changing health condition caused due to interruption of blood supply to the brain. The rehabilitation of stroke subjects is vast and time consuming and physiotherapy is the integral part of it. Although physiotherapy treatment plays a vital role in rehabilitation of stroke survivors, the number of people receiving regular physiotherapy service is much lesser than expected. Objective This study was conducted to identify the barriers for effective rehabilitation of stroke subjects in Kerala.

Protocolo de assistência de enfermagem à gestante com ruptura uterina: construção através de revisão integrativa

A ruptura uterina (RU) possui fatores de riscos diferentes quando se trata de países desenvolvidos e em desenvolvimento. Em países desenvolvidos, a etiologia principal da RU é a pós-cesárea, nos países em desenvolvimento é o trabalho de parto prolongado. Objetivo: elaborar um protocolo de manejos de enfermagem à mulher com RU. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa, a questão norteadora foi: Quais condutas os profissionais de enfermagem devem realizar na assistência à gestante com RU?

Diagnóstico e fatores de risco associados ao carcinoma espinocelular: um relato de caso

Introdução: O câncer é um conjunto de doenças agressivas que tem em comum o crescimento celular desordenado, que podem invadir tecidos e órgãos. O carcinoma espinocelular (CEC) é o mais prevalente na cabeça e pescoço, localiza-se principalmente em assoalho bucal e língua, apresentando baixos índices de cura. Objetivo: O presente estudo tem como objetivo relatar um caso clínico de CEC, com ênfase no processo diagnóstico e fatores de risco associados.

Acquired unilateral nevoid telangiectasia: case report

Unilateral nevoid telangiectasia (UNT) is a rare vascular dermatosis, characterized by areas of superficial telangiectasias distributed in a linear unilateral pattern. Several theories were developed to explain its etiopathogenesis. The most widely accepted is the one which establishes its probable association with an increase in the estrogen levels, exist two types: congenital and acquired. Objective: describe a rare case in the Dermatology Department at the State University of Pará.

Detection all four serotypes of dengue virus in aedes aegypti mosquitoes captured in tres lagoas – MS, Brazil

Três Lagoas - MS has favorable characteristics for the reproduction and maintenance of the Dengue vírus (DENV) vector ranked 3th in the number of cases and inicdence. This study aimed to capture of Aedes aegypti to verify the circulation of DENV serotypes in this city. Entomological surveys were carried in urban area in nine collection points, covering of the city and using Adultrap® traps. After capture all the mosquitoes were identification, and the females were used to detect the DENV with later serotyping by RT-Nested-PCR.

Estimation of urinary sodium excretion by tanaka and kawasaki equations in afro-descendants

Objective: To evaluate the mean urinary sodium excretion and its difference by sex by Kawasaki and Tanaka equations in an isolated urine sample in afro-descendants from Alcântara-MA. Material and Method: Cross-sectional study, conducted between August 2012 and August 2013, with collection of demographic, socioeconomic, lifestyle, blood pressure measurement, blood and urine samples. Results: Female predominance 51.20%, men were younger 31.57% and 74.78% had less than eight years of schooling, 99.56% belonged to social classes D and E.

Protective effect of Lonchocarpus araripensis lectin in rat polymicrobial sepsis

Objective and design: To evaluate the effect of the seed lectin from Lonchocarpus araripensis (LAL) in inflammation, clotting and vascular dysfunction in septic rats. Methods: Sepsis was induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) in male Wistar rats and evaluated 24 h later: 1. Peritoneal fluid - leukocyte migration, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity and content of malondialdehyde (MDA), NO2-, interleukins (IL-1β, IL-6, IL-10); 2. Blood - coagulation tests (aPTT and PT) and platelet aggregation (ADP); 3. Aorta - vascular reactivity to phenylephrine (Phe) and acetylcholine (ACh).

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona virus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is caused by a virus that infects the epithelial cells that express the angiotensin-converting enzyme receptor 2 (ACE2). This virus has a special tropism for lung tissue and the ability to trigger severe clinical conditions, including symptoms such as fever, dry cough, pleural effusion and acute pneumonia, however, there are several scientific reports that show the ability of this virus to infect other organs as human brain.

Assessing the oral health condition of elderly individuals with alzheimer disease

Aim: Comparing the oral health condition of elderly individuals diagnosed or not with Alzheimer Disease (AD), based on the DMFT index. Methods: Descriptive and comparative study conducted with a convenience sample comprising 15 elderly individuals with AD and 25 without the disease, in the age group 60-85 years. Participants’ general data and health information were collected through the analysis of medical records and interviews. Their oral condition was analyzed based on the DMFT index, by taking into account the use of dental prostheses.
