Interventional cardiology: characterization of the hemodynamic service in congenital cardiopathies of a Brazilian school hospital

Cardiac catheterization technology allows the diagnosis, follow-up and treatment of congenital or acquired diseases. An example of this is the improvement of methods performed especially for the pediatric aged group. Aim: To characterize the Congenital Cardiopathies´Hemodynamic Service of a Brazilian School Hospital regarding the variables - gender, age group, types of health care system (public or private), cardiac anomaly diagnosis and surgical intervention or percutaneous catheterization treatment.

Hospice care and terminality: dignity when dying

The current bibliographic study aims to encourage the discussion about terminality and the institution of palliative care in patients with therapeutic impossibility of cure in the bioethical context. The selected articles were indexed in the period from 2005 to 2019, three online databases were used: SciELO, Lilacs and BIREME. The technological advancement in medicine was followed by an increase in patient survival, especially those with incurable diseases.

Multimorbity and polypharmacy in elderly residents in the community

Introduction: population aging is one of humanity's triumphs. Objective: To analyze sociodemographic characteristics, morbidities and medication use in the elderly of Vila Lângaro-RS Method: a population-based cross-sectional study. The population consisted of individuals aged 60 years or older registered in the Health Units of Vila Lângaro- RS. Results: of the 204 elderly participants 61% were female, the age ranged from 60 to 90 years, with an average of 71.18 (± 8.33) years. Of the elderly, 75.5% used the Unified Health System for health care.

Gravidez na adolescência: descoberta e repercussão nas relações familiares

Objetivo: descrever as percepções das adolescentes sobre a descoberta da gestação e as repercussões sociais e familiares. Método: estudo descritivo-exploratório, transversal e qualitativo, desenvolvido com três adolescentes grávidas, acompanhadas numa Unidade Básica de Saúde, de um município do centro-sul piauiense, Nordeste brasileiro. A coleta de dados aconteceu entre agosto e outubro de 2017, por aplicação de roteiro de entrevista semiestruturada. Os dados foram analisados pela técnica de análise de conteúdo categorial temática.

Corelation between cognitive performance and functional status in tribal, rural and urban communities

Background: Due to change in mortality rates changes in the life expectancy increased in the older adult population, the prevention of disability and maintenance of functional ability and levels of independence is becoming more important. The geriatric assessment is a multidimensional, multidisciplinary assessment designed to evaluate an older persons socio-environment circumstances. The aim of this study was to examine correlation between cognitive performance and functional status in tribal, rural and urban communities.

Prevalence of ankyloglossia in newborns of palmas (Brazil)

Ankyloglossia is considered a congenital anomaly characterized by the short insertion of the lingual brake. Babies with this anomaly may present restrict tongue mobility, providing swallowing difficulties, deficiency in breastfeeding, and even early weaning. The present study verified the prevalence of ankyloglossia in newborns, frenotomies performed, and the mothers’ profile regarding chemical dependence, according to individual medical records from January 2017 to February 2018.

Evaluation of bradycardia in sub-saharan Africa: Three case series and challenges in management

Symptomatic bradycardia is a commonly observed arrhythmia in sub-Saharan Africa. It may result from sinus node, atrioventricular (AV) nodal tissue, and the specialized His-Purkinje conduction system. Assessment of symptoms is critical in the evaluation and management of bradycardia. In these 3 case series, we focus on the challenges in management.

Permanent education by nurses of primary health care in a Brazilian City

Objective: identify the permanent education practices in health development by nurses of the Health Primary Attention. Methods: descriptive study of qualitative approach with 14 nurses, in May 2018, localized in Cajazeiras-PB, Brazil. The semi-structured interview was used for data collection and analyzed through the content analysis proposed by Lawrence Bardin. Results: good perception about the Permanent Education in Health has been identified and the actions are carried out through talk wheels.

Relationship between weight and gestational age: neonate identification curve in the population of paraíba

The present work aims to construct the relationship curves between birth weight and gestational age. This is an exploratory, descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The data used come from the database for screening congenital heart disease performed, with the collection occurring in 12 maternity hospitals that congregate the largest number of births in the state of Paraíba.

Interstitial granulomatous dermatitis associated with autoimmune hepatitis: case report

Background: Interstitial granulomatous dermatitis (DGI) is a skin inflammatory reaction described in association with autoimmune diseases. Clinical expression is variable, ranging from linear subcutaneous and hardened cords to symmetrical violet macules until erythematous plaques on the upper part of the trunk and proximal limbs. The definitive diagnosis is given by histopathological analyze.
