Male partner involvement among hiv positive women receiving option b+ prevention of mother to child transmission of hiv and its associated factors, eastern zone, Tigray, Ethiopia

Background: Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV is one of the strategies to prevent pediatrics HIV infection.Poor male partner involvement in option B+Prevention of mother to child transmissionservices is one of the factors contributing to reduced effectiveness of the PMTCT services and hence failure to achieve the elimination of maternal to child transmission of HIV. Therefore, this study was assessedmale partner involvement in the option B+ PMTCT services and its associated factors, Eastern zone, Tigray, North Ethiopia.

Sociodemographic, clinical characterization and functional capacity of long-lived patients on hemodialysis

Introduction: The number of elderly patients with advanced Chronic Kidney Disease has increased worldwide. Objective: To characterize socio-demographic, clinical aspects, and functional capacity of elderly patients affected by the End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). Methods: A cross-sectional study, carried out in seven dialysis units, between March 2015 and November 2016. Sample was composed of 103 lives.

Nurses performance front child violence: an integrative review of The literature

Objective: to identify through evidence in the literature the nurses’ performance in front of a child victim of violence for children. Method: This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, Integrative Literature Review type (RIL), SCIELO databases, BIREME and LILACS, including article published during the period from 2010 to 2016. Photodynamic Therapy In Non-Surgical Periodontal Treatment: Literature Review

Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) has been used as a new non invasive therapeutic approach for the treatment of bacterial, fungal and viral infections of the oral cavity. The results show that the use of laser as an adjunct to non-surgical periodontal treatment favors repair and has proven action in pathogenic periodontal strains, but many studies show that its use does not bring additional benefits to the periodontal procedures. The present study aims to evaluate through a literature review the efficacy of photodynamic therapy in non-surgical periodontal therapy.

Selective removal of carious dentin: scientific evidence versus Clinical practice

It is an integrative review, whose objective was to analyze the demand and use of health services by adolescents. The research was made with articles published from 2013 to 2018, in the English, Portuguese and Spanish languages, through the BVS and PubMed, using the descriptors: adolescent; access to health services; adolescent health services; patient acceptance of health care and health services. Twelve articles were included in the final sample. The percentage of demand and use of health services varied from 22% to 94%.

Measuring agreeableness in medical students with an inventory of Personality traits

Objectives: In several medical schools, empathy levels decrease along the years, and there is no measure of agreeableness in medical schools. This study aimed to evaluate agreeableness as empathy marker in medical students, in a short version of a personal traits questionnaire, and to compare with other personal characteristics and other students at different times of medical graduation. Methods: We applied the self-report Big Five Inventory (BFI-10) to 200 medical students in one Brazilian medical school, set in 5 cohorts from 1st to 6th year.

Percepção Dos Técnicos De Enfermagem Acerca Das Metas Internacionais De Segurança Do Paciente

Objetivo: compreender a percepção dos técnicos de enfermagem de uma UTI e enfermarias de um hospital acerca das metas internacionais de segurança do paciente. Método: trata-se de uma pesquisa descritiva, exploratória, qualitativa, realizada com 21 técnicos de enfermagem de um serviço privado, através de um questionário semiestruturado, nos meses de setembro e outubro de 2018. Resultado: como resultado tivemos um grande número de funcionários do sexo feminino (86%) e a maioria na faixa etária entre 25 e 29 anos.

Vision impairment affects approximately 18% of the world population and impacts directly on people’s quality and style of life. The cane is a self-help device used by visually impaired people to improve their functional abilities. When storing or handling a dirty cane with wet dirt on its tip the person may experience an embarrassing and hazardous situation, since the cane can be infected with harmful bacteria deriving from dirt exchanged on the street.

Brocq-lyell syndrome induced by phenytoin. Clinical case

Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) has been defined as a vesiculobullous multiforme erythema of the skin and other organs. It is considered to be the initial stage of a skin reaction which most severe form of presentation is Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN), characterized by intense pain and loss of the epithelial surface (greater than 30% of the body surface), compromising the vital functions of the organism, that produced electrolyte imbalance, kidney and ocular involvement, with high catabolism and potential risk of sepsis. Etiologically it is related to the use of drugs in 80% of cases.

Standard Operating Procedure In Cardiopulmonary Bypass

Objective: to report the experience during the process of elaborating a standard operating procedure in the cardiopulmonary bypass. Methods: descriptive study of the type of experience report experience between December 2018 and January 2019 in a university hospital in southern Brazil. Results: the need of standardization of procedures, lack of rules and routines may indicate disorganization of the service due to different forms of professional conduct.
