Nurse-led telephone of nausea and vomiting in cancer patients undergoing antineoplastic chemotherapy with Cisplatin

Cisplatin is an antineoplastic used in treatment of some types of cancer. However, approximately 70 to 80% of patients undergoing this treatment are at risk of nausea and vomiting. Objective: Monitoring the occurrence of nausea and vomiting in cancer patients submitted to antineoplastic chemotherapy with cisplatin from the first treatment session.

Profile of work accidents notified in the years of 2014 to 2016, in the state of Tocantins, Brazil

This study aimed to describe the profile of work accidents in the state of Tocantins. This is a cross-sectional study about reports of Work Accidents from the statistical yearbook of occupational accidents, from the State of Tocantins, from 2014 to 2016. Results: Of the 4,453 cases registered, 80.5% corresponded to individuals of the male gender and 19.4% were between 20 and 49 years of age. The nature of the most frequent accident was typical (60.5%) while driving (19.5%) and work sickness (1.5%).

Epidemiological factors predicting to prematurity between puerperas attended in a hospital of reference in maternal childhood health

Introduction: When it comes to preterm birth, it means the one that occurred before 37 weeks of gestation, where there is a risk for these children to become ill and thus evolve to death. Objective: to conduct an epidemiological survey predisposing to prematurity among postpartum women treated at a referral hospital in maternal and child health.

Concepts and evaluation of the family health strategy in Brazil

Introduction: The Family Health Strategy was implement in Brazil in the early 1990's by the Ministry of Health and focused on the success of international experiences and in accordance with the criteria established at the Alma Ata Conference for Primary Health Care. Material and Methods: An exploratory and descriptive research has carried out on the literature to date. Results: The foundations have found to support and legitimize this strategy at the national level as a way to improve the quality of public health through qualified agents.

Interest of a short and structured training to laparoscopy: an opinion survey upon residents

Simulation represents, nowadays, an important pedagogic tool facilitating the learning of laparoscopic surgical skills especially to young residents. It is a safe way that allows them to overcome their deficiencies and it impacts directly their capacities in the operating room facing real patients. Our study was conducted on 28 residents in the General Surgery Department and the Gynecology/ Obstetrics Department.

Chronic use of proton-pump inhibitor: A Narrative Review

Proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) are one of the most prescribed therapeutic classes in the world, among them, omeprazole is found in the Brazilian essential drug list. Some research papersshow that the short-term use of PPIs can be safe, although its long-term use may cause adverse effects.The present review aimed to gather papers related to the effects of chronic use of PPIs in the literature. It is a narrative review in which the research for data was carried out in the Virtual Health Library in September 2018.

Prevention of nosocomial infections in intensive care unit: Analysis of professional knowledge

The present study aimed to analyze the knowledge of medical doctors and registered nurses on the use of Bundles and safe practices for prevention of nosocomial infections. This was an observational and descriptive study through the quantitative approach. The sample was composed of 13 healthcare providers, 4 medical doctors and 9 registered nurses who work in a Intensive Care Unit. Regarding the knowledge of Bundles, 60% of the doctors did know anything about them, plus 20% did not answer the question. In contrast, 66,7% of the nurses affirmed knowledge.
