Synchronous primary papillary carcinoma thyroid with ductal carcinoma breast: a rare case report

A 50 year old female admitted to R L jalappa Hospital, kolar, presented with synchronous primary tumours of the thyroid and breast. Pathological examination of a tissue sample following biopsy identified papillary carcinoma of the thyroid and invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast to provide a definitive diagnosis of synchronous primary tumors. The patient was healthy prior to diagnosis and the family history was non contributory. Upon admission, the size of the primary tumour biopsied, pathological diagnosis was an invasive carcinoma of the breast.

Biodegradation of xenobiotics- a way for environmental detoxification

Man-made compounds, also known as xenobiotics, are often refractory to degradation. The main reason is that they cannot be recognized by naturally present organisms and therefore do not enter common metabolic pathways. The physical and chemical characteristics of the compounds, as well as environmental factors, may influence their biodegradability. The main degraders in nature are microorganisms, mostly bacteria and some fungi. These organisms, due to their rapid rates of multiplication and great metabolic potential, are able to adapt to new substrates.

Hand me an isobar method of clinical handover and level of safe nursing practice among nurses working in icu

Aim of the study: To assess the effectiveness of HAND ME AN ISOBAR Technique of clinical handover on level of safe nursing practice during shift to shift hand over among ICU nurses. Background: Nurses are in the first place in the direct care of the patients. Patients spend most of their time with nurses during their hospital stay, especially in intensive care units. An effective inter-shift information communication is necessary to maintain care continuity and improve quality care.

Rhino-orbital mucormycosis mimic acute stroke

Rhinocerebral mucormycosis is a rare opportunistic infection of the sinuses, nasal passages, oral cavity, and brain caused by saprophytic fungi. The infection can rapidly result in death. Rhinocerebral mucormycosis commonly affects individuals with diabetes and those in immunocompromised states. There are spectrums of clinical presentation of this fungal infection however, this case presented as acute stroke is a one of the rare presentation.

Platelet-rich fibrin in maxillofacial surgery- review of literature

PRF technique was developed by Choukroun et al in 2001. Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) is autologous biomaterial which is the second-generation platelet concentrate. PRF has a favourable biological property that accelerate healing of soft tissue, and bone, giving a wide range of applications found in oral and maxillofacial surgery and other surgical fields. It is used to accelerate the healing of soft and hard tissue. In contrast to the PRP, the PRF is composed of autologous fibrin matrix in which a large amount of platelets and their growth factors are embedded.

Correlation of vitamin d level with different components of metabolic syndrome

Objecive: The objective of the study to investigate the correlation between vitamin D level with different components of metabolic syndrome. Patients and Methods: An observational cross-sectional study on 100patients (male=55 and female=45), age range 30-60 year, was performed. Patients underwent physical examination and biochemical testing. Patients included who fulfill the IDF criteria of metabolic syndrome for South Asians. Analysis was performed using SPSS Statistical package for windows (SPSS VERSION 20).

Main predictors for aesthetic dental implant: brief review

The use of implants as a replacement for lost or missing teeth have been reported in the literature as a good therapy and survival rates of success. Currently, in addition to matters related to the oral physiological functions, visual appearance and aesthetics have been addressed as an important factor in this type of therapy. Thus, the aim of this study was to review the literature and discuss the main factors supporting the aesthetic excellence before and after the rehabilitation of former regions, the use of dental implants.

Effectiveness of swedish massage therapy on blood pressure among patients with hypertension at saveetha medical college hospital

Aim of the study: to determine the effectiveness of Swedish massage therapy on blood pressure among patients with hypertension in experimental group. Background: High blood pressure (BP) is a major public health problem in India and its prevalence is rapidly increasing among both urban and rural populations. In fact, hypertension is the most prevalent chronic disease in India. The higher the pressure in blood vessels the harder the heart has to work in order to pump blood.

Classroom management for effective teaching skills among new teachers and academic achievement among elementary students

Classroom management has been a primary concern for teachers since there have been teachers in the classroom. A lack of classroom management affects both the teacher and the students. This study explores classroom management tactics to help improve the academic achievement of elementary school students. Studies show that some form of intervention makes a positive impact on teachers, students, and the whole school climate. Teachers need to personally connect with each student in the classroom in order to make students feel comfortable and welcome.

Evaluation of antimicrobial potential of endophytic fractions of mentha piperita against pathogenic microbes

Endophytic microorganisms asymptomatically colonize healthy plant tissues and may be related to the plant's resistance to attack by pathogens or even to the synthesis of secondary metabolites. The present study was aimed at isolating and characterizing endophytic strains from the leaves, stems and roots (aerial and non aerial parts) of Mentha piperita (Lamiaceae). Coarse and fine leaves, stems and root fragments after surface sterilization with internal procedures were collected to isolate endophytes.
