Relation of cervical spine disease in patients of scalp dysesthesia

Background: Scalp dysesthesia is a common mode of presentation in rural West Bengal. The study aims at finding radiological correlation withbnimaging of cervical spine with the presenting symptoms. 
Introduction: Most of these cutaneous pain symptoms are not attributed to any pathophysiology. The range of complaints vary widely from tingling, stinging to severe itching leading to scratch-itch cycle.

Gender differences in short term memory and perception

Memory and perception are valuable possessions of mankind. But these possessions are influenced by various physical, emotional and environmental factors.  So, the present study planned to investigate the influence of gender on memory and perceptual ability. Results revealed that short term memory showed statistically significant increase in females compared to males. Perceptual ability showed an insignificant increase in males compared to females.  Thus it could be concluded that women performed well in verbal episodic memory tasks and men excelled in visuo-spatial processing.

Early negative behavior in the pediatric postoperative anesthesia care unit- interference between frequently used observational assessment tools

Central to both clinical care and research is the use of observational assessment tools that help recognition and quantification of different behaviors in young children. In clinical practice it is common to experience difficulties when trying to discriminate between emergence delirium (ED) and pain after general anesthesia. The aim of this study was to explore the possible interference between two validated scores to assess ED and pain, respectively. In this prospective observational study, we included 231 children aged 1-6 years undergoing MRI scanning under general anesthesia.

A review on pulmonary-renal syndromes

Pulmonary-renal syndromes are a group of disorders characterized by necrotizing glomerulo nephritis and pulmonary hemorrhage. The coexistence of circulating anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) and anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) disease in children affected by this syndrome is exponential; with unfavorable out come in five out of seven patients reported to date. We describe a child with PRS associated both circulating anti-myeloperoxidase (anti-MPO) ANCA and anti-GBM disease on renal biopsy who was successfully treated with immunosuppressive therapy.

EVALUATION OF TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DISORDERS IN PARTIALLY EDENTULOUS PATIENTS

Background: Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are a collective term given to a number of clinical problems that involve the masticatory musculature, the temporomandibular joints and associated structures, or both.Aim: to assess various TMJ dysfunction signs among the partially edentulous patients.
Methodology: Temporomandibular disorders investigation was performed on 300 partially edentulous individuals, (162 females and 138 males) aged between 25-60 years, the study conducted by clinical examination of temporomandibular joint and associated structure.

Knowledge and perception of women of child bearing age in ibadan north local government area about breast cancer

Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women both in the developed and less developed countries. Adequate information about the disease could promote early detection and prompt intervention. However, despite the various awareness campaign instituted by governmental and non-governmental bodies, its incidence continues to increase. Therefore, the study assessed the knowledge of child-bearing women in Ibadan North Local Government (IBNLG) Nigeria concerning breast cancer.

Background: Case-based learning (CBL) is being utilized in medicine, nursing, and physiotherapy educational programs as a method to improve problem solving, critical thinking, and decision making. Although the use of CBL has increased, the student characteristics that predict performance during case-based instruction have not yet been determined.

Co-relation of pulmonary function test and chest x- rays in biomass fuel user in rural area of south India

Indoor air pollution from burning of traditional biomass fuel such as wood, dung, and agricultural wastes for daily household cooking is a major problem in rural India. Although it is known that biomass smoke contains a wide spectrum of potentially toxic compounds, its effect on public health is relatively unexplored. In view of this, the health impact of biomass fuel use in rural India has been evaluated in this study.
