The role of chemical compounds used in natural rubber production process on the etiology of nasopharyngeal cancer

Introduction and Objectives: Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) has been shown to be highly associated with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. Its incidence is higher in Chinese populations living in southern China, Malaysia, and Indonesia due to particular ethnic genetic polymorphisms. Anyway, the cancerogenesis activation happens only after the exposure to some environmental factorslarge scale epidemiological studies proposed associations between various dietary habits and an increase in risk for nasopharyngeal cancer, mainly for salted fish consumption.

Diagnostic yield of digital rectal examination during routine physical medical examination in a sub- urban African population

TOPIC: Diagnostic yield of Digital Rectal Examination during routine physical  medical examination in semi-urban African population.
Introduction: The higher frequencies of performing a DRE, diagnostic confidence, and adequacy were directly related to level of experience with the examination. Training in DRE technique has diminished and may be lost.
Objective: To assess the diagnostic yield of DRE in a semi-urban African population, thus estimating its relevance.

Determination of gamma-Aminobutyric acid by HPLC: Its application to polymeric Nanoparticles and stability studies

HPLC analysis of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and its relevant application to the unique polymeric nanoparticles (PNP) is described in this study. GABA is a major inhibitor neurotransmitter which is widely distributed in the central nervous system. Changes in GABA metabolism may play an important role in the origin and spread of seizure activity in epilepsy. Therefore, determination of GABA level is very significant in epilepsy treatment. In this study, determination of GABA in formulations was performed by HPLC using a developed validated method based on ICH Q2(R1).

Quality of life among post hysterectomy women diagnosed with cancer of cervix visiting opd’s

Background: Cervical cancer is the cancer of cervix, which is third most cause of modality among all cancers and accounts for 10% death due to cervical cancer. The prevalence of cervical cancer is documented more now- a - days which leads to demotion in all the aspects (physical, psychological, social and environmental dimensions) of quality of life and life expectancy.

Experimental analysis of convective heat transfer coefficient for pool boiling of milk and water

When a liquid is in contact with a surface maintained at a temperature above the saturation temperature of the liquid, boiling will eventually occur at that liquid-solid interface. Conventionally, based on the relative bulk motion of the body of a liquid to the heating surface, the boiling is divided into two categories; pool boiling and convective boiling. Boiling is a very effective and efficient mode of heat transfer, and it is encountered in various engineering applications.

Effect of tamoxifen on serum lipid profile in female albino rats

Tamoxifen is a sold under the brand name Nolvadex among others, is a medicine that is used to inhibit breast cancer in women and treat breast cancer in men and women. It is also being studied for other types of cancer. The study included 36 female albino rats divided to three groups the group A include 12 female albino rats whom treated with 20 mg of Tamoxifen for 60 days, group (B) which include 12 female albino rats weight (180-210) g aged (5-6) month whom treated with 20 mg of Tamoxifen for 90 days and control group (group C) which include 12 female albino rats.

Abuse of medical students in Bulgaria

Medical students often face high levels of abuse, which affect their health and well-being. We performed this study to analyze the prevalence of mistreatment among students in Medical Faculty- Sofia. Cross-sectional web-based study was carried out in 2015 with 257 medical students at the Faculty of Public Health- Sofia. Relation between variables was assessed with chi-square test with a significance level of p <0.05. At least one episode of mistreatment was reported by 66 % of the medical students. The most common source of mistreatment was assistant professors, followed by professors.

The growth, reproduction and survival of biomphalaria species in the field and laboratory conditions at lake albert in Western Uganda

Bilharzia or Schistosomiasis is a parasitic infection of man and is caused by blood flukes of the genus Schistosoma. The parasite is transmitted through specific aquatic intermediate hosts in various freshwater habitats. In terms of socioeconomic and public health importance it is regarded second to malaria among the parasitic diseases affecting man in tropical and some sub-tropical countries of the world.

The bacteriological and demographic pattern of term and near term neonatal sepsis in a tertiary care hospital

Aims and Objective: of the study was to assess the bacteriological profile and demographic pattern of neonatal sepsis. Material and Methods: Prospective analytic study was done from January 2015 to December 2015. Out of 1272 admissions, all term and near term neonates with weight appropriate for gestational age were 954, all were investigated on the basis of history, clinical findings, biochemical investigations, cultures for bacteriological profile and demographic pattern of neonatal sepsis.
