Validating equations to estimate subfactor ciii for corn residue cover

Erosion is one of the main causes of soil degradation. Model validation is a vital step in developing a valid and applicable tool to predict soil erosion. The aim of this study was to evaluate models that predict the cover and management subfactor (CiII) for interrill erosion. A full factorial design was used, with five doses of corn residue (0; 0.05; 0.15; 0.40 and 0.80 kg m-2), four slope gradients (5.2%; 10.6%; 15.3% and 36.4%) and two repetitions, under simulated rainfall. Di and the CiII were assessed in 0.5 x 0.75 m experimental plots, with recently tilled soil.

Application of different therapies in lip injury in a patient with cerebral palsy: A case report

Background: Cerebral Palsy (CP) is related to non-progressive disorders that occur during fetal development or immature brain. Individuals with spastic CP have abnormal muscle tone causes involuntary movement disorder, pathological reflexes, and development of parafunctional habits. Purpose: This case report describe different therapies to treat a lip injury caused by emotional distress in a patient with spastic CP.

Vertical silo pressure analysis with unusual building materials

With the incapacity in the Brazilian storage network, leveraged by the constant increase in national agricultural production, the construction of a silo becomes essential, where some of the problems in its dimensioning are the distribution of pressures of the product stored in the construction material. Thus, the present work aims to determine the pressure exerted by bean cultivars, according to EUROCODE 1.

Seed sweet potato production in aeroponics

The objective was to verify the possibility of the production of tuberous roots of sweet potatoes in an aeroponic systemin order to use these roots as seeds. The research was developed at the State University of Ponta Grossa (PR – Brazil). There were performed four attempts for the developing ofone aeroponic system in a greenhouse, involving experiments with structures and nutrient solutions for seven sweet potatoes genotypes.

Health profile of high school teenagers at a school in minas gerais perfil de saúde de adolescentes do ensino médio de uma escola de minas gerais

Objective: to investigate the health profile of high school teenagers in a public school in a municipality in the interior of Minas Gerais. Methods: a cross-sectional, descriptive study with a quantitative approach was carried out, through a structured questionnaire with questions about sociodemographic data, lifestyle habits and search for the health service.

Potentials and challenges for the operationalization of the vaccination campaign against Covid-19 in Brazil

The Unified Health System (SUS) has the National Immunization Program (NIP), coordinated by the Ministry of Health, which has been consolidating itself as one of the most relevant public health interventions in the world. Created in 1973, in its 46-year trajectory, the PNI is characterized as an efficient public policy, increasingly impacting the profile of morbidity and mortality of the Brazilian population, adapting to changes in the political, epidemiological, and social fields.

Evaluation of aloe vera-stevia incorporated fruit nectar

This study aims to develop and evaluate the fruit nectar products in which the fruit juice and sugar were substituted with Aloe vera and stevia at various levels (treatment 1- 0%, treatment 2 - 25%, treatment 3 - 50%, treatment 4 - 75% and treatment 5 - 100%). Inulin was used for compensating the sucrose omission defects on TSS, bulkiness (mouth feel) properties of the nectar with numerous health benefits. The sensory evaluation of the treatments and their physico-chemical properties were studied and the well accepted products from sensory evaluation were selected for shelf-life studies.

Biocompatibility and fibrous response of polymethylmethacrylate in skeletal muscles

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is a synthetic polymer produced in microspheres form, used in many biomedical areas. Objective: To determine the PMMA injections biocompatibility in striated muscle tissue of Wistar rats. Methods: In vivo biocompatibility and fibrous tissue healing were assessed by histopathological evaluation at 2, 4, 8, and 16 weeks after implantation in 3 groups of adult rats. Group 1, with 20 adult rats, was injected with 30% PMMA gel in the ventral muscle. Other two groups with 20 and 5 rats were studied as control subjects.
