Nanorobots: Current state and future perspectives

Nanorobotics is a very recent field that has gained a tremendous momentum of the world scientific community at large. Scientists worldwide are - directing their efforts to develop systematic procedures to synthesize a fully functional autonomous nanorobot in reality. An attempt has been made in this work to show the progress in the research of nanorobots in the last decade. This review paper begins with a brief introduction to the field of nanorobotics and nanorobots.

Proposed pyramid fractal image compression

To evaluate the proposed pyramid fractal image compression, and comparing its result with traditional FIC, several tests were performed. A detailed investigation was carried out on the performance of the pyramid fractal image compression technique in order to view the performance of the last one in terms of encoding speed, compression ratio and reconstructed accuracy. We examine the performance of our new technique of fractal image compression based on pyramid partitioning domain step=2,s_quantize=5 and o_quantize=7 using standard (256x256) gray-scale image.

Speeding up fractal image compression

Various compression methods have been proposed. In recent year fractal image compression gained more interest because of their capability to achieve high compression ratios while maintaining very good quality of the reconstructed image. However, this method suffers from a long encoding time arise from very large number of domain blocks that must be examined to match each range block.  Our proposed technique based on Most Frequent Pixel (MFP) used to reduce the encoding time in fractal coding algorithms.

Optimisation of Process Parameters for Water-Sea Water (3%) system in a Spiral Plate Heat Exchanger (SHE) using Response Surface Methodology (RSM)

In this paper, an attempt is made to optimize the process parameters for Water-Sea Water (3%) system in a Spiral plate Heat Exchanger (SHE). Experiments have been conducted by varying the mass flow rates of cold fluid (Sea Water 3%) and hot fluid (Water) and the inlet temperature of hot fluid by keeping the cold fluid temperature constant. The effects of variables on the process parameters of SHE are studied. The process parameters viz.

Value stream mapping from dock to stock operational activity at engine manufacturing plant

Studies on application of value stream mapping at automotive industry and the focus is on Dock to Stock process at Engine manufacturing plant is limited. This paper addresses the application of value stream mapping as one of the lean tools to eliminate the waste and improved operational procedures and productivity. In this approach, value stream mapping (VSM) is first used to map the current operating state for dock to stock operational activities. This map is used to identify sources of waste in the process. Further lean tools are used for reduction in the identified waste.

A survey on needs and issues of cloud broker for cloud environment

Cloud computing has become an emerging technology for outsourcing various IT needs of organizations, offering access to their infrastructure and application services on a subscription and pay-as-you-go basis. Since the Cloud Environment is developing day by day, there are many Cloud providers offering same or different Cloud services with different pricing policy, performance attributes and features.

Implementation of hybrid classification model in distributed systems for network monitoring

The main objective of this study is to compare SVM (Support Vector Machine) classification algorithm and Neural Networks classification algorithms identify the pitfalls and propose a new hybrid classification algorithm which is reliable, fast, efficient and robust handling large data sets. A new version of Support Vector Machine algorithm is designed and developed in the study which is used for training the dataset followed by testing using Neural Networks classification algorithm.

Improving survival in advanced gastric cancer: A qualitative approach

Purpose – Though the incidence and mortality numbers are comparatively less than other types of cancer, such as lung and breast cancer, overall survival in advanced gastric cancer cases is still very bleak, thus patients only receive palliative treatment. We sought to improve overall survival in gastric cancer patients by reviewing the various treatment protocols associated with advanced gastric carcinoma.

Video monitoring and motion detection system based on arm-LINUX platform and http protocol with SMS capability

In this paper, a solution about the design of remote video monitoring system based on Arm-Linux platform and http protocol is introduced. And the embedded system, video capture, motion detection, short message service (SMS) alarm, and client video monitor are introduced. Video 4 Linux is used to get the camera video data, which is transferred to the Web Server, and the data is displayed on the client browser. The system can also be connected with mobile phones, using SMS to control alarm equipment. The system can be applied all kinds of video surveillance systems.

Efficient way to detect fault node using round trip delay

In recent years, Wireless sensor nodes are used in various applications to gather information. The sensor nodes which are deployed in the sensing area are prone to failure due to various reasons like malfunctioning, out of range, energy dissipation and so on. These sensor nodes have to identified and recovered to maintain the good quality of service (QoS). In this paper, the concept of RTT is implemented which is used to calculate the round trip time (RTT). Based on the RTT calculated, a fault node can be identified easily with the help of round trip delay (RTD).
