Brain waves create consciousness

Consciousness has been a mystery from very early civilization. Every religion and many philosophers have tried to explain consciousness. After rapid development of science and technology, consciousness has been the subject of intense research in psychology, neuroscience and quantum mechanics. Neuroscience is the most promising field and has made significant progress in understanding the structure and function of brain. Human brain has 100 billion neurons and 300 trillion constantly changing connections.

A neuroscience-based methodology to identify the implicit associations of brazilian science teachers towards nuclear technology

Science, technology, and innovation play an essential role in helping countries increase the quality of life they offer their citizens. Since the discovery of nuclear fission in the 30s, the peaceful applications of nuclear technology have benefited several fields. Improved crops, preservation of food, health, environment protection and a stable supply of energy can be cited as contributions of nuclear technology for global wellbeing. Despite all benefits that result from the peaceful uses of nuclear technology, it is still addressed with prejudice.

Comparative study of methodologies for measuring corporate social responsibility

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a current issue increasingly present in the strategic planning of the companies. Although managers of public or private organizations have turned their attention to social and environmental issues in their strategic actions, measuring the social responsibility of a company is not an easy task. This paper aims to observe the eight most relevant methodologies of CSR measurement and establish a comparative analysis among them by considering the scope and feasibility of each methodology. The most relevant CSR methodologies were selected.

Design and development of portable hydraulic valvespring compressor

This study aims to design and develop a Portable Hydraulic Valve Spring Compressor, test and evaluate its performance in terms of easiness to use, time element for the process, the number of worker/student involve during the work and the quality of work. The study employed descriptive-comparative design, t-test as the statistical tool, questionnaires and observation guide to gather data. Based on the findings, the researcher disclosed that Portable Hydraulic Valve Spring Compressor is easy to use, less time element, less worker and has a quality of work.

Developed motion of robot end-effector of spacelike ruled surfaces (the second case)

The trajectory of a robot end effector is described by a ruled surface and a spin angleabout the ruling of the ruled surface. In this paper, we analyzed the problem of describing trajectory of a robot end-effector by a spacelike ruled surface with spacelike ruling. We obtained the developed frame by rotating the generator frame at an Darboux angle in the plane, which is on the striction curve of the spacelike ruled surface.

Toxic effects of neonicotinoids on apis mellifera L. workers (Hymenoptara: Apidae)

Neonicotinoid insecticides are applied in the cultures of melon (Cucumis melo L.) to control pests of insects. However, insecticides can have indirect effects on bees, which are important pollinators of melon crops. The objective of this work was to evaluate the toxicity of neonicotinoids to the bee Apis mellifera, Linnaeus.

Teenage mothers in the Brazilian legal Amazon region and municipal indicators of income education and possession of computers and internet access

Teenage pregnancy is a public health issue due to the prevalence of complications for both the mother and child, and the Brazilian Legal Amazon has a high rate of teenage motherhood compared to other regions of the country. Among the strategies adopted by health managers, information communication technologies, when utilized in sexual education projects, can help in the dissemination of information on the use of contraceptives and other guidance for delaying pregnancy and reducing the chances of second pregnancies.

Comparative study of frequent itemset mining algorithms apriori and fp growth

In this paper generating frequent item sets are discussed: Apriori and FP-growth algorithm. In apriori algorithm candidates are generated and testing is done which is easy to implement but candidate generation and support counting is very expensive in this because database is checked many times. In the fp-growth, there is no candidate generation and requires only 2 passes over the database but in this the generation of fp-tree become very expansive to built and support is counted only when entire dataset is added to fp tree.

Principle of variable cost for information management in a network of dental clinics

The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the benefits of using the variable cost principle for the generation of managerial information in ontological clinic. For that, an exploratory, qualitative-quantitative research was carried out in a private ontological clinic in Santa Catarina State. The data collection was carried throughout the study out on the spot, taking into account, the information passed during meetings with the managers of the organization.
