Enhanced osmolyte accumulation counteracts salt stress by controlled ros: evidence from biochemical studies

Salinity is the most damaging factor towards crop production. Observing the possible role of thiourea in salinity tolerance, experiments were carried out using optimized thiourea level (400 µM) at which two maize hybrids may show improved growth and physiological attributes in autumn and spring seasons.

Modeling the distribution and incidence of bacterial wilt on tomatoesusing binary logistic models

Strategies of managing and controlling devastating bacterial wilt of tomato are investigated by fitting binary logistic models to data consisting of dummy response variable of its incidents on reported cases to the plant clinics. Binary logistic methods are used for fitting such models to data describing the distribution and incidents of bacterial wilt (BW) caused by Ralstonia solanacearum on tomato crop. The approach overcomes some of the difficulties encountered when fitting ordinary least square regression to a dummy response variable.

Artistic vision, pidgin and yabis in fela’s afrobeat

One major concern of Fela’s Afrobeat music is to authenticate, entrench and amplify the collective dream of Nigerian people. The thrust of Afrobeat manifests in glaring confrontational and militant lyrics and tones of the songs. It is obvious that various indigenous governments in Africa have betrayed their fellow kinsmen at the turn of independence. As a result, there exists an immeasurable gap between the rulers and the ruled. More so, the rulers have continued to oppress the ruled.

Isolation and characterization of fatty acid from peel of the pear fruit (pyrus pyrifolia) and evaluate its antioxidant activity

A fatty acid was isolated and purified from pear fruit (Pyrus pyrifolia) peel extract by using column chromatography technique and evaluated its antioxidant activity by 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical-scavenging assay and reducing power assay. The isolated compound was identified as Gadoleic acid on the basis of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and it showed the high percentage of antioxidant activity but less than the ascorbic acid. As the concentration of the compound increased the percentage of activity also increased in both the DPPH assay and reducing power assay.

Vacuum extraction in cesarean delivery: An analysis of maternal and neonatal outcomes

Introduction: Vacuum extraction during particularly difficult cesarean delivery use by some surgen. This procedure may decrease the length of incision and extension of uterine incision and complications of C/S such as post operation bleeding and neuropathic pain. However, some cases reported that the routine use of vacuum in cesarean delivery may cause the neonatal subgaleal hemorrhage and intracranial hemorrhage to increase.

MFI and rural indebtedness: A case study of Bihar and Jharkhand

The objective of the paper is  to analyse the indebtedness through microfinance institutions in Bihar and Jharkhand. The data were collected from microfinance institutions operating in Bihar and Jharkhand.  Over-indebtedness had become a problem in India because of the increased number of microcredit institutions, a lack of regulation and the absence of a strong credit bureau that would make it easier to identify clients who have multiple loans. Average loan amount from microfinance institutions was lower in Bihar as compared Jharkhand.

This means that one needs to maintain an equilibrium that is not threatened at any moment by forces and caprices beyond his or her foresight and control to be able to live a healthy life. The health of every individual depends to a greater extent on the literacy level of either the individual or the nation.
