Relationship between yield and yield contributing characters in f5 population of chickpea (cicer Arietinum L.)

An experiment was conducted with four selection procedures of 20 progenies [PS(EF), PS(HY), SSD and RBP] of GJG 0719 x SAKI 9516 in F5 generation in Desi chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) to study the correlation and direct and indirect effects of different characters on seed yield. Correlation coefficients of seed yield per plant with various characters within F5 generation revealed that seed yield per plant exhibited significant and positive association at genotypic and phenotypic levels with number of pods per plant in all the selection procedures of the cross.

Age analysis of centropomus nigrescens by otoliths sagitta, asteriscus and lapillus in mexican central pacific

Morphology, morphometry and growth rings of the otoliths: sagitta, asteriscus and lapillus of Centropomus nigrescens Günther 1864 in Manzanillo and Santiago bays in, Colima, Mexico were studied. Differences between sexes, as right and left of the three pairs of otoliths were analyzed. In all cases the growth of the otoliths is eccentric to the core. Relationship between fish length and length and width of the otoliths showed that these structures have a negative allometric index. Twelve growth rings were identified in sagittae and asterisci.

Structural analysis of runx1 protein and its mutants in complex with runx3 promoter shows altered conformations

Runt related transcription factor 1 also known as RUNX1 play a pivotal role in the regulation of the development of hematopoietic system in accordance with various transcriptional co-regulators. It is one of the most common targets of chromosomal translocations and mutations in its runt domain are frequently associated with leukemogenesis. Structural studies of RUNX1-DNA complexes provide details of direct contacts formed between runt domain of RUNX1 and DNA. The amino acid residues, Lys83 and Arg174, of RUNX1 directly interact with its binding site on the promoters.
