Study of inter-relationship of morpho-economic traits for formulation of effective selection strategy in sesame

Character association and path coefficient analysis were carried out in a set of sesame genotypes collected from different states of India. Capsules/plant followed by plant height, days to cessation of flowering, period of flowering, capsule length, height to first capsule and seeds/capsule revealed significant positive correlation with seed yield. In contrast, seed weight had negative relationship with seed yield. Oil content seems to be increased with duration of flowering period owing to their inter se significant positive relationship.

Isolation and identification of penicillium spp., from krishna river, District- Sangli

The mycoflora from the bed of river Krishna at Sangli was studied at three different locations viz., Right Bank, Center and Left Bank from January 2014 to December 2015. Twenty six soil samples were collected from surface, 10, 15, and 25 cm depth. The mycoflora were isolated by using soil dilution and soil plate method. Out of the 75 strains of fungi isolated 10 species of Penicillium viz., Penicillium funiculosum (32.66) and P. semitectum (03.88%), P. expensum (2.33%), P. chrysogenum (16.33%), P. Lilacinum (09.63%), P.notatum (15.66%), P. roseum (1.62%), P. tardum (23.67%), P.

Innervation of the olfactory apparatus of chacides sepoides (squamata– lacertilia- scincidae)

The aim of this study is to analyzed the three nervi; terminalis, vomeronasalis and olfactorius emerging from the olfactory apparatus. The lizard Chacidessepoides was collected from Sinai and was undergone to permanent histological preparation. Through the examination of the olfactory apparatus of this species resulted in the vomeronasal organ is innervated by two correlating nerves: terminal and vomeronasal nerves that originating from its sensory epithelium. The terminal nerve bears the ganglion terminale. The olfactory nerve innervates the olfactory chamber.

Causes of cardiovascular disease (cvd) in old age people having normal range of body mass index (bmi)

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is the one of major cause of deaths globally (WHO, 2011). Cardiovascular Disease is a general term describing disease of the Heart and Blood vessels. Cardiovascular Disease is a class of diseases that involve the Heart and Blood vessels (WHO 2011). Cardiovascular Disease generally refers to conditions that involve narrowed or blocked blood vessels that can lead to a heart attack, chest pain (angina) or stroke. An estimated 17.5 million people died from CVD in 2005, representing 30% of all deaths globally.

A modified CTAB DNA extraction procedure for plants belonging to the family Sapindaceae

A good DNA extraction procedure for the isolation of genomic DNA should yield adequate and intact DNA of reasonable purity. The procedure should also be quick, simple, and cheap and if possible should avoid the use of dangerous chemicals. This paper describes a simple, rapid and efficient method for isolating genomic DNA extraction methods for mature leaves, resting buds and seedling leaves of 5 different genera namely Sapindus, Cardiospermum, Litchi, Allophilus, Dodonea of Sapindaceae.

Need for life skills and social maturity among adolescence –To get better career

Adolescent is a period whereas most thrilling, challenging, distressing and consequential aspects. They need to have a number of skills to function as individual and as a member of social group. The present study is undertaken to assess the role of life skills and social maturity among adolescence to get employment. The study was conducted in Tirupati town. Sample consists of 100 adolescence (50 boys) and (50 girls) were selected from five Government High schools by using purposive random sampling method.

Effect of mutagens on character association and selection response in mutagenised populations of Grasspea (Lathyrus sativus l.)

Character association and component analysis at genotypic level were studied in mutagenised populations (M2) of grasspea land race “Dhenkanal local” following seed treatment with gamma-rays, EMS, NG and their combinations. Seeds/plant emerged as an independent direct yield contributing trait in all treatments except 40kR gamma-rays + 0.2% EMS. In general, number of branches/plant, pods/plant and seeds/plant exhibited very high and significant positive association with seed yield/plant.

Effect of larval density on body size in Drosophila immigrans

Many environmental factors, biotic and abiotic interact to influence the organismal development. Organisms respond to environmental stresses with behavioral, physiological or morphological adjustment to counter its effects and maintain normal functioning. In the present study, the high parental density results in offspring with smaller body size compared to offspring from parents that reproduced at lower densities.

Conjugated effect of composted coirpith, composted pressmud, farmyard manure and npk on soil enzyme activities and nutrient status of post harvested soil of clusterbean Cyamopsis tetragonoloba l. (taub) var. pusa navbahar)

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of composted coirpith, composted pressmud, farmyard manure and NPK on soil enzyme activities and nutrient status of post harvested soil of clusterbean.
