Efficient mining high utility item sets from transactional databases using up-growth and up-growth+ algorithm

One of the important research area in data mining is high utility pattern mining. Discovering item sets with high utility like profit from database is known as high utility item set mining. There are number of existing algorithms have been work on this issue. Some of them incurs problem of generating large number of candidate item sets. This leads to degrade the performance of mining in case of execution time and space. In this paper we have focus on UP-Growth and UP-Growth+ algorithm which overcomes this limitation.

Complications of beta-Thalassemia patients and their related factors in Iran

Purpose: β-thalassemia is one of the most common hereditary diseases in the world. Frequent blood transfusions for symptomatic treatment of the disease minimize the associated complications such as ineffective hematopoises and anemia. However, iron overloading is caused by frequent blood transfusions leading to a variety of other complications such as liver, heart and endocrine disorders as well. The aim of this study was to determine the β-thalassemia associated complications and also other factors associated with the symptomatic treatment of this disease.

Steady flow simulation in Anambe river basin using HEC-RAS

In many developing countries, food safety became a top priority for authorities and water resources managers. It is directly related to human’s life and economic development. Due to this necessity, the government of Senegal has selected the valley of Anambe of 16000 ha, to develop irrigated agriculture through rice cultivation. Two dams (Niandouba and Confluent) have been built to reinforce water availability due to climate change and variability effect on the rainfall.  For a better management of this hydraulic system, the knowledge of flow dynamic is required.

Pleiotropic effects of Nutraceuticals

In the recent years there is growing interest in nutraceuticals. These are natural products and provide alternative to medicines. Risk of toxicity or adverse effect of allopathic and ayurvedic drugs has shift more emphasis on the safe use of nutraceuticals. Nutraceuticals provide health benefits and helps in the prevention or treatment of various diseases. These fall under various categories such as Dietary fiber, Probiotics, Prebiotics, Polyunsaturated fatty acids, Antioxidants.

Birth preparedness and obstetric health complications: A study based on a tertiary hospital of Mumbai

A quantitative study was carried out in a tertiary-care hospital to examine the level of birth-preparedness and experience of obstetric health complications among women those were from lower socio-economic strata of Mumbai. Asemi-structured questionnaire was developed and open-ended questions were included to interview 300 women who delivered during January-May 2013 in the selected hospital. Total eight components of birth-preparedness was considered in the study and a woman that satisfied at least three of the components was considered as ‘well-prepared’.

Analysis of Arsenic from water by Spectrophotometric method

Arsenic compounds are widely used, have been recognized as toxicants. The arsenic contaminated drinking water Arsenic from water may be determined by many methods such as atomic adsorption spectroscopy (AAS), Inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES), electrochemistry and spectrophotometry with silver diethyldithiocarbamate. This article presents a study on the arsenic determination from water by spectrophotometric method based on molybdate reagent. This method poses high sensitivity and selectivity but has not been studied in detail.

Immunotherapy in the treatment of Laringeal recurrent respiratory Papillomatosis (clinical Study)

Introduction: Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is a relatively rare disease. Although histologically RRP is a benign entity, it is a major clinical problem because of its location, often dramatic presentation due to significant airway obstruction, the ongoing resistance to therapies, frequent recurrences, spread to the lower respiratory tract and esophagus (aggressive forms) and the possibility of malignant transformation into squamous cell carcinoma.

Synthesis and characterization of Cardanol/Phenol Resin based Polyurethanes

The production of polyurethanes from cardanol, a renewable organic resource obtained as a by product of the cashew industry.  Cardanol based novolac type phenolic resins were synthesized by condensing cardanol phenol mixture with furfuraldehyde in different molar ratios in the presence of hydrochloric acid as catalyst. The novolac resins were treated with polyethylene glycol – 400 to produce polyols.

Demographic and obstetric determinants of caesarean section among patients in lth, Ogbomoso

Background: Public health concerns have heightened due to the increasing rate of caeserean section (CS). Aim:To identify demographic and obstetric determinants of CS in aTeaching Hospital. Material and Methods:The records of all cases of Caesarean delivery carried out in LAUTECH Teaching Hospital (LTH), Ogbomoso between January 2011 and December 2013 were retrieved. Data from the records were entered and subjected to simple descriptive statistical analysis using SPSS version 16, measures of association was carried out using chi-square and student t-test, all put at P value < 0.05.

Improved developmental potential of porcine Blastocyst by l-Carnitine supplementation

Objective: In this study, the potential role of L-carnitine supplementation in the maturation and preimplantation development was investigated using porcine as a model.
Materials and Methods: In Expt. 1, porcine oocytes were matured in the presence of L-carnitine (1.0, 0.5. 0.25 mg/ml) or absence (control), subjected to in vitro fertilization and assessed on their developmental potential up to the blastocyst stage. In Expt. 2, zygotes derived from in vitro fertilization were cultured in NCSU-23 medium with or without L-carnitine supplementation.
