The financial resources available for infrastructure maintenance and rehabilitation are always limited thus creating a need for efficient resource management and for the ability to predict maintenance actions throughout the infrastructure service period. Service life prediction has assumed a primary role as it allows a more rational use of construction elements and serving as a useful tool in the definition of preventive maintenance plans providing an increase in performance of various building element especially those used in the facades.

Microbiological quality of water for human consumption of the palmares settlement in Araguatins, Tocantins

The importance of assessing water quality for human consumption is based on the fact that it is one of the main vehicles for infectious diseases. The objective of this research was to evaluate the quality of water for human consumption through the microbiological characterization of water from open and closed wells of Palmares, Araguatins (TO) settlement. The collections were carried out during the period from 16 to 20 October in two settlement wells. The results obtained were compared with the Ministry of Health Resolution No. 2,914 of 12/12/2011.

Effect of land-use change on water-stable aggregates and soil chemical properties within of two cultivated fields in khost province, Afghanistan

Conventional farming system may cause physical and chemical soil degradation. Plant residue retention can be used to improve soil aggregation and chemical properties. However, the effectiveness of plant residue retention in conventional farming (CF) system remains unclear. Therefore, we studied the influence of plant residue retention on the water-stable aggregates, mean weight diameter of water-stable aggregates, bulk density and soil chemical properties.

Evaluation of the concentration of heavy metals in fillets of pangasius hypophthalmus (Sauvage, 1878), Panga, imported from Vietnam

Studies in several countries have warned on the contamination of fish by heavy metals, especially Pangasius hypophthalmus, farmed in the Mekong river, Vietnam, one of the most polluted rivers in the world, and exported to all countries. Current paper quantifies the concentrations of heavy metals in samples of frozen panga fillets. Risk to human health associated to the consumption of fillets was calculated according to heavy metal levels.

Profile of adolescents deprived of their liberty and offenses committed

Objective: To describe the profile of adolescents deprived of their liberty and offenses committed in the macroregion of central-south Piauiense. Material and method: Cross-sectional and documentary study, conducted between August / 16 and July / 17. Seventy-six medical records were evaluated, the variables were grouped and analyzed by the Microsoft Excel version 2010 and the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 2010. The program was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Piauí, with opinion number 2.056. 848.

Primary care planning process theme workshops: prospects of the health teams

This work has the general objective of analyzing the reflections of the health teams triggered in the phase of the thematic workshops of the primary health care planning process. This is a documentary research of a qualitative nature, carried out in the city of Santa Maria, located in the central region of the State of Rio Grande do Sul. In this process the themes of the workshops proposed by CONASS were developed, which were organized to be presented by six workshops, interspersed with dispersion activities in the territory.

Nutritional status, insulin resistance and cytokine biomarkers: principal component analysis approach

The study explored the clustering of risk factors and associations between nutritional status, biochemical parameters, insulin resistance, and cytokine biomarkers in rural and industrial workers. A cross-sectional study with 71 individuals, 41 women and 30 men. The following variables were used: gender, age, body mass index, waist circumference, total cholesterol, HDL-c, LDL-c, triglycerides, fasting glycemia, visceral fat area, fat percentage, TyG, Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI), Lipid Accumulation Product (LAP), cytokines (IL-6, IL-1β, IL-8, TNF-α, and IL-10).

Estimated levels of physical activity and food habits in the adolescent in the school environment of the city of daloa (Cote d'ivoire)

This Adolescence is a pivotal period marked by many physical and psychological changes and a quest for significant autonomy. But the eating habits acquired during this period tend to persist over time and influence growth and long-term health. The purpose of this study was to improve the lifestyle of teenagers in the city of Daloa. To this end; she focused on developing a model for estimating body composition in a group of adolescents (176 girls and 175 boys) aged 11 to 17, enrolled in five secondary schools in the city of Daloa.
