Correlation between use of open footwear and incidence of open foot fractures in Brazilian bikers: a case-control study

Background: The rising number of motorcycle accidents is a major cause of death and disability, especially in the lower limbs. Objectives To study the influence of footwear type in the occurrence of open fractures. Patients and Methods: A case-control study. We interviewed 54 patients cared for at the Getúlio Vargas Hospital, a tertiary reference orthopedics center that underwent care for fractures of the foot. We aimed to compare the incidence of open fractures between patients who wore closed footwear at the time of the accident and those that did not.

Coexisting bacterial meningitis with urinary tract infection in children less than 5 years old in central child teaching hospital

Objective: To determine age-stratified prevalence of concomitant bacterial meningitis in children <5 years with a urinary tract infection, to determine the prevalence of invasive UTI and risk of meningitis following bacteremia. Method: we performed a case series study on patients admitted to our hospital suffering from UTIaged < 5 years old in the central child teaching hospital from April to November 2018.

Gastritis prevalence and presence of helicobacter pylori in a city in the north of Parana state, Brazil

Helicobacter pylori (HP) is a gastric spiral-shaped bacterium reported in humans more than one century ago. It is a fastidious bacterium that shows high motility easy penetration into the mucosa of the stomach. It is considered the major cause of gastric diseases, especially gastritis and peptic ulcers. If these conditions are not treated can evolve into some types of gastric cancer. For these reasons, this study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of this microorganism in a city from Parana State, Brazil. This retrospective study was carried out at a Medical Unit.

Conceptual map: a reflective analysis about adolescence, youth, and youths and its implications in the nursing schedule

The purpose of this study is to present a reflection on the differentiation between adolescence, youth, and youths and their implications in the nursing scenario through the construction of a conceptual map. The map exemplifies the relationship between concepts and their branching of signifiers in a similar configuration, with concepts ordered logically, hierarchically and with connecting words, establishing relationships between them, thus allowing their interpretation.

Nursing egrees: undergraduate education analysis for professional work in the unified health system

The evaluation of nursing education, from the point of view of the graduates, is essential subsidy to quality improvement in education. In this context, the National Nursing Curricular Guidelines are a tool for the practice in SUS and improvement of health services. The study analyzed the training of the nursing egress from a private HEI in Pará to work in the Unified Health System (SUS). This is a cross-sectional observational research and a quantitative, descriptive and analytical approach.

Radiological protection elements of the daily routine of a hospital radiology service

The overall objective of this study was to elaborate an instrument with the elements that need to be considered in the daily routine of a hospital radiodiagnosis service. Qualitative, exploratory and descriptive research was performed. The data were collected through non-participant observation of the daily life of 13 workers who work in the radiodiagnosis service of a public hospital in the south of the country. The content analysis technique was used to analyze the data.

Evaluation of primary health care in the perspective of the family caregiver: integrative review

Materials and Methods: Integrative literature review aiming to review in the literature the evaluation of Primary Health Care attributes with the use of the Primary Care Assessment Tool (PCA Tool) child version. The terms used were "primary care assessment tool" and "PCA Tool". The search occurred in the Lilacs, Pubmed, Scopus and Web of Science databases. Results: The corpus of analysis consisted of 28 studies. It was observed that Brazil leads the evaluation research in APS using the PCA Tool child version.

Objective: The objective of this research is to evaluate the impact on the quality of life of patients with oral mucositis induced by radiotherapy and / or chemotherapy treated with laser therapy. Materials and methods: This is a prospective longitudinal analytic study approved by the Ethics Committee on Research numbered 1544272. Sixty-nine patients were evaluated through quality of life questionnaires from the University of Washington and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer applied after laser therapy in patients with oral mucositis.

The safety and efficacy of tibb pharmacotherapy

Pharmacotherapy is a traditional healing paradigm based mainly on herbs, with numerous pharmacopeia being compiled over the centuries. It was the dominant therapeutic option until superseded by modern chemical-based conventional drug therapy. As it is now experiencing a revival for reasons, such as better patient tolerance, more information is required on the mode of action and clinical efficacy of herbal remedies.
