Knowledge on risk factors to breast cancer and self -examination, among women of reproductive age (15-49 years) at longisa county referral hospital, Bomet County, Kenya

Globally, breast cancer incidence is on the rise, especially in developing countries and it is the most diagnosed cancer among women in Kenya. For the prevention and treatment, knowledge on early detection and risk factors is very important, however this has not been assessed among women of reproductive age attending Longisa County Referral Hospital Bomet County, Kenya. The study adopted a cross-sectional hospital based design to assess the knowledge on early detection and risk factors to breast cancer among 194 women of reproductive age (15-49 years).

Herbicide selectivity in the forage palm

The objective of the present study was to assess the selectivity of five herbicides and their potential pre-emergent control over weeds in the forage palm crops. A completely randomized design was used to evaluate selectivity in triple factorial (2 x 5 x 7) considering varieties, herbicides and seasons assessed, respectively. In turn, the experiment to evaluate weed control was conducted with a completely randomized design with five treatments and one control with eight replications, yielding a total of 48 units.

Waste tyre reverse logistics in northern brazil

Considering the growing concern about environmental protection and the large-scaletyre manufacturing industry, the problem of improperly disposing of tyre waste has called attention. This paper aims to identify the waste tyre reverse logistics scenarioin Northern Brazil based on tyre reports drawn up by the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Natural Resources (IBAMA). The methodological procedure of this study consists of documentary research, where the IBAMA tyre reports from 2011 to 2017 were analysed to obtain data, using the descriptive analysis technique.

Increased nitrogen fertilization of marandu grass and protein supplementation: herbage intake, feeding behavior and digestion of nellore heifers

This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency of increased nitrogen via supplementation or fertilization in Marandu-grass pastures on the productive performance of Nellore heifers. The experiment was conducted in an area dominated by Brachiaria brizantha ‘Marandu’. Animals were randomly distributed in 16 paddocks of 0.6 ha under continuous stocking in a completely randomized design, with four repetitions and a 2 × 2 factorial design, with two doses of nitrogen and two types of supplements.

The genus Fusarium as source of the anti-leukemic enzyme l-asparaginase: adjustment of the productive conditions

The enzyme L-asparaginase is used to avoid acrylamide formation in food, and as a pharmaceutical to treat Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. As fungi are eukaryote and good enzyme producers, it is desirable to obtain a fungal L-asparaginase as an alternative to the bacterial enzymes that are currently used in the clinical practice. Glycerol use as carbon source for the metabolism of filamentous fungi is of great interest, once it can be used as a cheaper substrate for enzyme production, L-asparaginase alike, avoiding its discard in nature.

Use of 3d technology in knowledge sharing and the inclusion of visually impaired students

The interaction between people favor the exercise to create, share and manage knowledge. In education this is no different, because the school has as purpose the building and knowledge sharing. Arriving at the school, students bring their baggage of knowledge, skills, difficulties and shortcomings. In this context, the article presents a case study in order to understand how the use of 3D printing technology can support the sharing of knowledge among high school students of a state school in Paraná, for the reproduction of works of art media they can be understood by the blind.

Non-communicable chronic diseases in elderly and its association with clinical and psychiatric morbidities

Objective: To know the scientific production about the association between noncommunicable chronic diseases and clinical and psychiatric morbidities in the elderly. Method: Integrative literature review from the Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS), Nursing Database (BDENF), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (PubMed / MEDLINE) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO). The descriptors Chronic Diseases and Depression were used.
