Supernumerary teeth case treated with atypical extraction

This report describes the treatment of a 23-year-old man presented with bimaxillary dental protrusion, severe crowding complicated by the presence of two supernumerary teeth and class II division 1 subdivision right malocclusion. The patient had gingival recession in maxillary central incisor, and the option of extraction this tooth followed by space closure, with the substituting of the central incisor by the supernumerary tooth, was chosen.

Parental Influence on the sexual behavior of high school adolescents in Mekelle City, Ethiopia, a mixed approach study

Background: Parental monitoring is generally defined as “the acquisition of knowledge about the activities, whereabouts, and companions of one’s son or daughter. A parent can directly and indirectly influence the sexual behavior of adolescent. The influence of perceived parental approval or disapproval with regard to sexual behaviors varies with the developmental status and socio culture of the community. Though, such topic was scarce on sub-Saharan Africa and in the study area as well.

Respiratory assessment of smoking patients submitted to thoracoabdominal surgical procedures

The aim of this study was to identify the main clinical changes related to respiratory function in smokers submitted to thoracoabdominal surgical procedures. It is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design and quantitative approach performed with 185 patients. The results obtained showed a predominance of males (87.0%) with a mean age of 34.97 years, brown skin (59.2%), single individuals (49.7%), and incomplete primary education (57.8%).

Risk factors of hand osteoarthritis

In this current work we studied the different risk factors of hand osteoarthritis in order to identify them including occupational and individual risk factors and to assess the effect or influence on the development of hand OA. The study sample consist of two groups. The 1st group (Case) were100 subjects with hand OA, (24) were males and (76) were females with mean age (59.92)±(7.96). The 2nd group (Control) were 100 subjects without hand OA, (36) were males and (64) were females with mean age (55.01)±(8.93).

Historical-cultural lessons on school bathroom graffiti

Bathroom graffiti are a mean of communication between unknown and can convey ideas, images and answers to social and cultural questions. Hence, this study aimed at analyzing bathroom graffiti made by students from 10 Brazilian public schools. We carried out a research of qualitative character that gathered a photographic record of images and texts from 58 school restrooms for both sexes. We identified a total of 544 graffiti in women’s bathrooms and 87 in men’s bathrooms.

Access and quality of care for users with hypertension and diabetes mellitus

The objective of this study is enlarge the access of users to Arterial Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus in Primary Health Care (PHC). Methodology: This is an action research with actions directed with strategic leaders (1) organization and management of the service; (2) monitoring and evaluation; (3) public engagement; (4) classification of clinical practice. Results: the follow-up of 87.9% hypertensive and 86% diabetic patients, cardiovascular risk assessment, and lifestyle changes.

Evaluation of the indication and complications of blood transfusion in maternity and pediatric hospital in al-najaf gynecology and obstetrics department

The use of 100 units of blood in 100 patients received over a period of 3 months from the beginning of February to terminal of April. Reaction reported after transfusion of 100 units of whole blood only. 38 case of transfusion reaction occurring at maternity and pediatric hospital in Al-Najaf. Fever and chills was commonest manifestation and the most frequent presenting symptoms 70 patients develop reaction with few minutes of starting of transfusion with few drops of blood.

Preparation, assembly and osteological description of a brocket deer specimen (fischer, 1814)

The description of the technique of preparation and assembling of a skeleton of brocket deer Mazama gouazoubira (Fischer, 1814), received without life by the Laboratory of Zoology and Ichthyology Regional University of Northwestern region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (UNIJUI), Ijuí -RS were the aims of this study. The preparation of the skeleton followed the steps: complete strip of the animal by means of manual maceration with cooking, the bones clarification, mounting and jointing of the bones ending with the fixing of the skeleton on a wooden base.

Electronic biomedical dynamometer for measurement, analysis and registration of palmar force and force information in time

The developed electronic biomedical dynamometer was able to measure palmar grip strength and varying forces over time in people whose physical capacity ranges from 0 N up to 1400 N. The mechanical structure is composed of two cylindrical PVC rods, two steel supports, one finger backing, other backing for the palm of the hand and a dynamometric ring containing resistive extensometers.

Telomers and the effect of the practice of physical exercises in their course

This article aims to explore the effect of telomerases on the shortening of telomeres in people who perform physical activities in high, medium and low intensities and to diagnose what would be the best results obtained in them. It is known that the telomeres are the ends of the cellular structure of the DNA that, as its aging, its ends are shortening and degenerating, causing in the senescence of the cell.
