A comparison of fmcg industry in India and the usa: The case of laundry detergent market

The Indian fast moving consumer good (FMCG) is projected to grow significantly over the next decade or so. In this paper, a detailed comparison of the detergent category for the Indian and the US markets has been presented. Using brand level sales, price, and promotion data, Logit demand functions has been estimated for both Indian and the US markets. The model provides us estimates of the “equity” enjoyed by various brands as well as measures of price elasticity.

Effectivenesss of vocational education on youth empowerment for community development

The focus of this paper is on the effectiveness of vocational education on youth empowerment for community development. The highlights of the paper include vocational education, youth empowerment, types of empowerment, community development and challenges of vocational education in Nigeria. The paper concludes that vocational education remains an indispensible and effective tool for youth empowerment and community development.

Continued training, quality of life and prevalence of osteomuscular symptoms in teachers of basic education

The purpose of this descriptive, quantitative and cross - sectional study is to compare the scores of Osteomuscular Disturbances (DM) presented by 48 Basic Education teachers who participate in a continuing education program with previous studies. The data were collected through the application of the Nordic Osteomuscular Symptom Questionnaire (QNSO).

Profile of women assisted by the maria da penha patrol in the Pará State

The importance of this study is to understand the factors associated with domestic violence against women who, although legally protected, remain in a situation of vulnerability, as is the case of the women protected by the Maria da Penha Patrol in the Pará State. In this context, the objective of this study is to show the profile of women victims of domestic violence, who are under the protection of the Maria da Penha Patrol of the Pará State.

The importance of sazonal dynamics from a beach in the Amazon to a local tourism economy: the case of alter do Chão, Santarém, Pará, Brazil

The article presents an analysis of the seasonal dynamics of the river beach located in Amazônia, Brazil. The primary information was obtained in the village of Alter do Chão, through interviews with agents directly involved with the tourist activity in the beach that forms in the Amazonian summer period.

Determinants of profitability in Lebanese commercial banks

This study derives an empirical model for studying micro and macro-economic factors that affect the profits of Lebanese commercial banks represented by return of assets (ROA).The sample covers thirteen banks spanning the period 2007-2016. The panel least square is taken as the estimation procedure. Results are based on the cross section fixed effects model. Regression results shows that the whole model is significant, where capital adequacy ratio and total loans to total assets ratio have high negative significance in determining the bank’s profitability.

Human resource development plays crucial role in economic development. Large scale investment in human resources is required to exploit the physical capital fully and efficiently. Improvement in the health of masses increases their productive capacity and leads to qualitative improvement in human capital. Therefore expenditures on health are important in building and maintaining a productive labour force as well as improving the lives of the people and the quality of society. The health care system in India is intended to provide free health care to all.

Risk of osteoporosis in smokers

The study was conducted on 2 groups including smokers group and nonsmokers control group at the outpatient clinic of Ibn Sina teaching hospital in Mosul during the period between 1/11/2010 and 1/5/2011. The first group consists of 100 subjects, and the second group also consists of 100 nonsmoker subjects matched for age and gender were kept as control group. The aim of this study was to assess whether there is an increase in the risk of osteoporosis in smokers compared to that in healthy age-matched control subjects.

Aids prevention in a virtual environment for homosexualmen

The objective of this study was to analyze aspects related to AIDS prevention in virtual homosexual male environments that focus on the exposition of the body. It was taken as a reference the idea that cyber-body is in cybersexuality, where the body of the other, virtualized, becomes only a place of visit, like a page on the Internet and sex between them is ideal. The methodological design used was of a qualitative nature, focusing both the analysis of the senses underlying ideas and their contextualization in the light of broader cultural meanings.

Spatial analysis of violence in adolescents: A tool for actions of prevention and reduction of inequalities

Objective: To analyze the correlation between the gross rates of general violence and year of occurrence and the spatial pattern of occurrence of reported cases of general violence against adolescents. Method: This is an ecological study with temporal trend, conducted from the records of the notification of cases of general violence against adolescents residing in the state of Pernambuco, in the period from 2009 to 2014, per municipality, obtained by the Health Information Systems Program (Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação in Portuguese).
