Cross-Cultural adaptation in quality of life instrument: Sistematic review method

Objective: To describe the process of cross-cultural adaptation and evaluation of the sychometric properties of instruments for measuring quality of life. Methods: This is a systematic review, carried out independently by two researchers. The following keywords were used as search criteria: Transcultural adaptation, quality of life, questionnaire; Transcultural adaptation, quality of life, instrument; Instrument, validation, quality of life; questionnaire, validation, quality of life. After the unification of the two collections, the titles, abstract and full text were analyzed.

Women users of alcohol: epidemiological and clinical characteristics

The alcohol intake according to its rules and norms can be classified in six stages being abuse, pathological, alcoholism, alcoholism, addiction, drunkenness among others. Excessive consumption of alcohol by women is growing every day with negative repercussions on physical, mental and social health. The present study aims to trace the profile of alcoholism in women from a city of Cariri Cearense. A descriptive exploratory study with a quantitative approach was carried out. The sample consisted of 50 women residing in the municipality of Brejo Santo - Ce.

Body composition and functional capacity evaluations in long-lived subjects

Introduction: The number of subjects with 80 years old or over are increasing, In wide world . Objectives: To evaluate body composition and functional capacity of elderly people living São Paulo., Method: This was a cross-sectional study, that recruited 65 subjects older than 74.6 years, in São Paulo. All participants underwent bioimpedance and six-minute walk tests. Results: The mean age was 78.8 ± 4.4., BMI was 27.4 ± 5.6. Overall, 61.6% were women. No loss of lean mass in the studied population, but women had a lower percentage of lean mass when compared to the men.

Telescopic bowel anastomosis in the intra-abdominal inflammatory environment

Introduction: Our aim of this study was to investigate a new method of repairing intestinal injuries in the intra-abdominal inflammatory environment and compare it with simple hand suturing method. this method which include imaginative or telescopic bowel anastomoses previously jus used in urologic operations. Method: 16 dogs were divided in to two equal groups of 8. intra-abdominal infection was induced in all dogs by a small perforation in the small bowel.

Fall characterization among hospitalized elderly: Implications for nursing and patient safety

The purpose of this study was to analyze the profile of elderly patients victims of falls, in a hospital of Rio de Janeiro city, Brazil. It used a descriptive and quantitative approach; the data collection was made in documents of the institution (notifications of sentinel events), and organized with the help of Excel program, triangulating the data to enable the association of the findings with the theory.

Quality of life in patients with acute myocardial infarction: a literature review

Introduction: Quality of life (QoL) is one of the expected results for the health sector and an important condition in the evaluation of health care practices and public policies. Diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis: A case report

Systemic sclerosis (SSc, Scleroderma) is a rare connective tissue disorder that is highly diverse in its multisystem clinical presentation and follows a variable course. Systemic sclerosis is a disease that will lead to collagen diposition and fibrosis of skin and various internal organs like lungs, kidneys, blood vessels, and gastrointestinal tract. Systemic sclerosis can be clinically discerned into two subsets based on skin findings and serological data they are limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lSSc) and diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis (DcSSc).

Diffusion dynamics of three composite resin exposed to various means present in daily life of patients

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of exposed to differents means on water sorption and solubility of three composite resin. Specimens of each composite were andomly divided in 12 groups (n=10 per group): G1 (Control): no agents; G2: cigarette smoke; G3: coffee beverage; G4: wine beverage; G5: essential oils mouthrinse; G6: smoke/coffee; G7: smoke/wine; G8 smoke/mouthrinse; G9: smoke/coffee/mouthrinse; G10: smoke/wine/mouthrinse; G11: coffee/mouthrinse; G12 wine/mouthrinse, during 28 days.
