Back ground: Heal perforation still ranks among the commonest emergencies encountered in the tropics. Typhoid is by far the commonest cause of ileal perforation in India, in spite of the apparent improvements in environmental anitation, showing the lacuna here. The need of the hours in ‘Health Education’ – awareness of the public of the importance of safe drinking water and careful disposal of waste. Also import is the change in Government’s policy to recognize the importance of primary prevention in health care.

We found in our series of immune his to chemical study that anti- RBM3 and CIRP antibodies were able to stain the nucleuses of neurons, myocardial cells and cells in the blood vessels existing in the newly infarction area of the brain and myocardium, although moderate or feeble reactivity with those antibodies were observed in sub-acute and/or chronic infarction area.

Trend in pain among postnatal mothers at a tertiary care hospital in South India

Introduction: The mothers experience various physical discomforts after child birth out of which pain is a major factor that contributes to maternal morbidity. For broadening the scope of care directed towards postpartum well-being, the present study aimed to assess the features of pain on the first three postpartum days among mothers after vaginal delivery and caesarean section.

Evaluation of nigeria direct reduction (dr) steelmaking slag mineral phase chemistry

Fifteen prepared field samples of Delta Steel Company (DSC) direct reduction (DR) steelmaking slag were studied with an energy dispersive electron microprobe including photo microscopy. Belite, melilte, merwinite (silicates), periclase, perovskite and wustite were the mineral phases present in the slag. Slag composition elements were very highly differentially concentrated in the mineral phases.

Cross sectional study to study clinical profile of blood culture positive typhoid fever patients

Introduction: Typhoid fever is highly prevalent in India with hight rate of morbidity and mortality. There is paucity of data from India on the clinical and investigational profile of proven typhoid fever patients. Thus this study has been taken up to study these aspects of typhoid fever. Aims and objectives: To study clinical profile of blood culture positive typhoid fever patients. Materials and Methods: Study was carried out in the Department of Pediatrics, Northern Railways Central Hospital, New Delhi. 100 patients with fever of more than 3 days duration were taken.

Knowledge, attitude and associated factors to liberalized safe abortion services among female students in university of adigrat town, Ethiopia

Background: World Health Organization (WHO) defines unsafe abortion as a procedure for terminating an unintended pregnancy carried out either by persons lacking the necessary skills or in an environment that does not conform to minimal medical standards, or both. Unsafe abortion is the cause of serious complications and disability for millions of women each year and is a prominent cause of maternal death. Globally, unsafe abortions claim the lives of 68,000 women each year; 43% of these women are African.

Effeicacy and safety of mytoxantrone associated with flag scheme in patients with relapsed or refractory acute leukemia

Objective: The objective of this investigation was determinate the complete remission, overall survival, disease-free survival and toxicity rates in patients with relapsed or refractory acute leukemia who received FLAG plus mitoxantrone (FLAG-MITO) chemotherapy. Patients and Methods: Prospective, experimental, longitudinal, unicentric, single-arm study. Oral fludarabine 30 mg/m2BSA, cytarabine 2000 mg/m2BSA, mitoxantrone 8 mg/m2BSA and granulocyte colony-stimulating factor 300 mg every 12 hours were administrated to patients with relapsed or refractory acute leukemia.

Influence of insect pest control and tillage practice in corn varieties on the occurrence of asiatic corn borer

A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of pest control and tillage practice in hybrid and open-pollinated corn varieties at different growth stages on the occurrence of Asiatic corn borer (ACB) (OstriniafurnacalisGuenee) Pyralidaeand to assess its damage; and to determine the influence of pest control, tillage practice and varieties onpredator population.The experiment was laid out in Split-split plot in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications.

Role of repetitive facilitation exercises in functional improvement of upper limb in stroke patients as compare to conventional rehabilitation

OBJECTIVE: To find the role of Repetitive facilitative exercises in functional improvement of upper limb in stroke patients as compare to conventional rehabilitation. METHODOLOGY: 26 patients fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled in this study. Outcome or efficacy was measured by using University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) scoring system, a 35 point scale. The items measured included Pain (10 points), Function (10 points), Active forward flexion (5 points), strength of forward flexion (5 points) and patient satisfaction (5 points).
