Antibacterial activity of excoecaria agallocha l.leaf in chloroform and ethanol extracts (gc-ms analysis)

The present study was carried out for Antibacterial Activity and GC-MS analysis of Excoecaria agallocha L. leaf extracts of Chloroform and Ethanol. Antibacterial assay was carried out against five bacteria viz. Staphylococcus aureus MTCC3381, Bacillus cereus MTCC430, Escherichia coli MTCC739, Pseudomonas aeruginosa MTCC 424, Klebsiella pneumoniae MTCC432 using agar well diffusion method. Chloroform extract of E.agallocha was highly effective on Bacillus cereus strain. There was no effect on E.coli and K.pneumoniae. It was moderately effective in 2000µg concentration only.

Anticancer effect of gemcitabine combined with 5-flurouracil in microemulsion on the hct-116 colon cancer cells

Combination therapies of chemotherapeutic agents in nanoparticelsare promising strategy in releasing the drugs selectively into the targeted tissues and cells. 5-Flurouracil (5-FU) and Gemcitabine (GEM) are antimetabolites used as anticancer drugs. In this study, the antitumor activity of the combination of GEM and 5- FU encapsulated in a micro emulsion (ME) was in vitro evaluated in HCT- 116 colon cancer cells. The inhibition of cell growth was examined by the 3-(4,5dimethyl) ethiazole (MTT) assay.

Registered nurses’ perception of their professional role regarding medication management in federal medical centre yenagoa bayelsa state

The study determined the registered nurses’ perception of their professional role regarding medication management in federal medical centre Yenagoa   Bayelsa state. Two (2) research questions based on the two (2) objectives were formulated. Descriptive survey research design was adopted. The sample for the study consisted of 170 nurses; instrument used for data collection was a self structured questionnaire which was validated by experts in the field. The reliability of the instrument was established through test re-test method which yielded a high positive correlation of 0.89.

Cases of the abdominal compartment syndrome in children with infectious diseases

Currently, the frequency of the intra-abdominal hypertension and the abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) during the infectious diseases in children remains under researched. Measuring intra-abdominal pressure is generally not included in the routine methods of medical examination, and majority of these cases is not diagnosed. However, the infectious diseases are often accompanied with the processes that stimulate the increase of abdominal pressure.

Basic review of optical fiber, advantages, losses and future trends

Fiber optic systems are important telecommunication infrastructure for world-wide broadband networks. This paper deals with the Basic communication model and the types of fibers for the optical fiber communication system. Then the different technologies in optical fiber communication along with their features are discussed briefly. Finally the general system of optical fiber communication is briefly mentioned along with its advantages and limitations. The future aspects of the Optical Fiber is also shows that how the new technology can be overcome the shortcomings of the old one.

Rage expression in hcv-related hepatocellular carcinoma; comparison between malignant and perimalignant tissues

Background: The expression of the receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) has an impact on the mechanisms giving rise to characteristic features of various cancer cells. We aimed in this study to correlate the scores of RAGE expression with histopathological features of HCV- related hepatocellular carcinoma in malignant and peri-malignant tissue specimens.

Remote test monitoring and controlling of multiple sensors using android app for smartphones

This paper describes an advancement which could be implemented in the Automation Industry with the development of Android application for smart phones. The various sensors used in industries such as temperature sensors used in blast furnaces, fractional distilling columns for fuel extraction, food processing, pharmaceutical product manufacturing, water level sensors used in Dams, storage tanks for hydroelectric projects and societies, motion sensors used for security in industries and home automation systems can all be monitored and controlled remotely.
