Prevalence of automedication in elderly residents in the urban area of almeida license city before risk factors of this practice

Self-medication is a very common and worrisome practice practiced by many people and can pose health risks. The elderly represent a higher age group of medicines, which makes it necessary to pay special attention to their self-medication. The consumption of medicines without the guidance of the prescribing professional represents a public health problem, awakening the importance of knowing this practice among the elderly and the risks it may have on their health. This study aims to identify the prevalence of self-medication in elderly residents in the urban area of Licínio de Almeida-BA.

Revisão comparativa dos principais métodos diagnósticos para detecção do papilomavírus humano na região cervical uterina

Hoje existem várias técnicas para a identificação em infecções como o HPV. Apresentam graus de sénsibilidades e especificidades altas em comparação aos testes histológicoa e citológicos, podem determinar o genótipo viral e assim determinar quais poderiam ter o risco maior de desenvolver o câncer. Os testes também diminuem os riscos de obter resultados falsos-negativos ou indeterminados na citologia, servindo como rastreio em pacientes que já fazem o uso do tratamento.

Multicistic ameloblastoma: a case report of a young woman in hersecond decade of life

Introdução: O Ameloblastoma é um tumor benigno, de crescimento lento e assintomático, que possui grande chance de recidiva. Tem maior predomínio pela mandíbula, porém pode ocorrer também na maxila. Ele pode ser classificado com multicístico, unicístico ou desmoplásico ou periférico. O diagnóstico é feito através de exame radiográfico e tomografia computadorizada. Objetivo: O presente estudo teve como objetivo relatar um caso clínico em sua individualidade, em que foi realizada, com o auxílio de um dispositivo a descompressão da lesão para que ela diminuísse.

Acceptability of product generic for students of a college private sector in the municipality of victory conquest, Bahia

Generic drugs are similar to reference drugs, produced after expiration or waiver of the patent or other exclusive rights, with efficacy, safety and quality. Generics represent the major technical and scientific advance for Brazil, with the aim of facilitating the population's access to medicines. This study aimed to verify the level of acceptability and knowledge about the generic drug in students from a private college in Victoria of Conquest-Ba.

Validation of pressure injury treatment protocol in the intensive therapy unit

Introduction: The appearance of skin lesions is one of the most common occurrences resulting from the long hospital stay. Objective: Elaboration and validation of a care protocol directed to the treatment of pressure injuries in an Adult Intensive Care Unit. Methods: This was a quantitative and qualitative study conducted from February to October 2018. A protocol for the treatment of injuries was constructed and submitted to the evaluation of ten expert judges, whose argument scores were calculated using the Validation Index. Content (IVC).

Social relations and social support: the experience of caring for a person with tuberculosis in a rural community

The objective is to report the experience of care to a person with tuberculosis in rural areas. The rapporteur was a nurse, linked to the health secretariat of a municipality in the southern region of Ceará. She was encouraged to reflect on the social relation made available to the patient through the writing of a narrative. The reported social support was response to patient vulnerabilities, challenges to stigma and prejudice, mobilization of social actors and health staff in the conduct of supported care, and patient autonomy.

Oral supplementation with campomanesia adamantium peel extract: effect on metabolic and inflammatory profiles in mice

Campomanesia adamantium (“guavira”) fruits exhibit pronounced antioxidant activity and are popularly used in the control of metabolic comorbidities, but no studies have evaluated this antioxidantproperty in the fruit peel.We evaluatedthe effect of the hydroethanolic extract ofC. adamantium peel (ExCa) on the metabolic and inflammatory profilesof mice. Antioxidant activity was evaluatedin vitro.The animals, fed a diet containing 65% starch, were grouped (n=8 each group) as follows: ExCa 250 (extract supplementation, 250mg/kg), ExCa500 (500mg/kg), and control (water supplementation).

Evaluation of the pharmacotherapeutic profile of elderly diabetic users of the program here has popular pharmacy in a private pharmacy of the Bahia Potions Country

The present study aims to analyze the pharmacotherapeutic profile of diabetic elderly people assisted by the "Here Has Popular Pharmacy" program in a drugstore in the municipality of Potions, located in southwestern Bahia. In addition, it aims to highlight the role of pharmaceutical assistance to the health team in the prevention of diseases, complications and health promotion in the area of Diabetes mellitus. For this, a descriptive and exploratory research will be carried out, being configured as quantitative.

Perception of practices of oral hygiene in an intensive therapy unit

Objective: To identify and analyze the perceptions of the nursing team regarding the importance and knowledge about oral hygiene (OH) provided to patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Design: Field research of descriptive exploratory nature with qualitative methodological approach. Method: The sample consisted of 18 nursing professionals (nurses and nursing technicians) who worked in the General Adult ICU of the University Hospital of the Federal University of Maranhão (HUUFMA), located in the city of São Luís, in the period of August and September 2018.

Patient safety: nursing practice in antibiotic administration

Objective: To observe the nursing practice regarding the management of antibiotic therapy. Methods: This is a prospective, longitudinal and observational direct and structured quantitative research of nursing care in patients using antibiotics in a large hospital. Data collection occurred through a structured checklist. The research was approved by the UniEVANGELICA Research Ethics Committee.
