Clinical profile and mortality of children with congenital cardiopathy submitted to surgery

Objective: To make a clinical and epidemiological characterization of children with congenital heart disease submitted to cardiac surgery at a referral hospital in Paraíba and correlate these data with death. Materials and Methods: Quantitative, cross-sectional, retrospective study with 101 children. Categorical variables were presented in tables. To determinethe associations of dependence, the Fisher's exact Chi-Square test was used and analyses were run in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, adopting a significance level of 5%.

Simulation and treatment left with the dibh technique

Radiotherapy treatment for left breast cancer may include the ipsilateral lung and especially the heart in the treatment fields. One way to minimize doses to these risky organs is to use the Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) technique, called deep breath holding. The objective of this study was to propose a standard operating procedure for the stages of simulation and tele-therapeutic treatment using the DIBH technique.

Inclusion in education through music: the perception of Brazilian educators and music therapists

Objective: To evaluate the perception of educators and music therapists about the use of musical experiences to inclusion of children and adolescents with autistic spectrum disorder. Method: A descriptive-exploratory survey was carried out from March 2016 to March 2017, with 182 participants of which 63 Basic Education teachers, 59 Music teachers, 35 Professionals in Education (not teachers) and 25 Music Therapists.

Insufficient translation of knowledge among nurses towards management of nosocomial infections at Vihiga county Referral Hospital, Western Kenya

Introduction: The nosocomial infections are responsible for long hospital stays, morbidity, and mortality and are costly to manage. While episodes of NIs are recognized in hospitalized patients worldwide, and in all age groups, higher incidences are found in resource-limited settings, especially in Africa. The healthcare workers, particularly nurses, play a critical role in the spread, prevention and control of NIs. However, in poor resource settings, limited studies have been conducted to ascertain this.

National culture and strategic thinking in organizations: review and inferences from the gcc region

The purpose of this study is to draw on the existing literature of the strategic thinking. Then conduct a review of the studies that identified the obstacles of strategic thinking in Arab culture. The urgent need to think globally instead confined internally then draw the lines which leads to this point. Genomic characteristics of human papilomavirus 16 and 18

There are more than 200 Human Papilloma Virus serotypes, or commonly called HPV (Human Papillomavirus), they participate in a frequent number of pathologies that can affect various organs of the human body. Among high-risk HPVs, serotypes 16 and 18 can be highlighted, since most of them are associated with potentially pre-neoplastic lesions in certain anogenital carcinomas, with high tropism for cervical cells.

Influência do agrosilício e silicato de potássio no crisântemo cv. puritan sob condições de campo aberto

O crisântemo (Dendranthemagrandiflora), cultivado em vaso é uma das plantas mais populares no Brasil. O Agrosilício ® e o silicato de potássio são fontes de silício, embora esse não seja um elemento essencial para a nutrição das plantas têm mostrado benefícios na produção e qualidade pós-colheita de flores. Assim, este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o desempenho produtivo e qualidade pós-colheita do crisântemo cv. Puritan, cultivado em condições de campo aberto, sob diferentes doses de Agrosilício ® e Silicato de potássio.

Uso de dimensões lineares para estimar a área das folhas de Cajanus cajan (L.) Millspaugh atráves de método não destrutivo

Objetivou-se por este estudo, encontrar o melhor modelo matemático que estime a área das folhas trifoliolada de Cajanus cajan (L.) Millspaugh de maneira não destrutiva, a partir das dimensões lineares do comprimento e da largura da folha central. Foram utilizadas 380 folhas trifolioladas, sendo 300 utilizadas para a modelagem e 80 utilizada para a validação. Cada folha central foi mensurada quanto ao maior comprimento (C) e a maior largura (L). Posteriormente determinou-se o produto da multiplicação entra o comprimento e largura (CL).

Effects of school characteristics on students’ mathematics performances in high schools: does stem education make any difference?

The purpose of this study was to determine how different characteristics of Florida public high schools are related to students’ performances on the mathematics component of Advanced Placement (AP) exams, End of Course (EOC) exams, The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and American College Test (ACT) tests. The study also provides a summary of key findings and details about how students perform in STEM schools on the AP pass rates, EOC percentiles, and SAT and ACT test scores comparing to students in non-STEM schools in the State of Florida.
