Patient safety at samu: diagnosis to propose a project to promote health actions

Objective: To identify the attitudes that evidence the culture of patient safety by professionals of a team of Mobile Emergency Service in the prehospital context. Method: Quantitative, descriptive and cross-sectional study, through the application of the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire, validated and adapted to the Brazilian culture to 105 professionals who worked in a Mobile Emergency Service.

Background: Is there a lack of data on the predictive capacity of the formula proposed by Melão Juniorin the diagnosis of excess body fat in Brazilian adolescents. Aim: To evaluate the performance of the formula proposed by Melão Juniorin the prediction of high body fat in adolescents. Subjects and methods: This is a cross-sectional study with a sample of 507 students, aged 10–19 years, from public schools.

Humanization of birth: perception of nursing academics as for the assistance

Objective: Identify the perception of nursing students during normal delivery care. The study presented an exploratory methodology, qualitative in nature. The work was conducted at Estácio– Ceará University Center, in the city of Fortaleza located in state Ceará. The study population was nursing students. Results: Categories were elaborated from questions analyzed of an instrument for data collection. It was performed a detailed and exhaustive reading of the interview, allowing the participants to understand the subject of the research.

Objective: to describe the experience of nurses in a family health unit through educational activities focused on the benefits of breastfeeding based on the methodology for nursing care in collective health described by Queiroz & Egry. Synthesis of data: an exploratory, descriptive study with a qualitative approach, in the experience report modality, carried out with the participation of 20 participants, belonging to a specific population Family Health Strategy (ESF) in the city of João Pessoa, Paraíba. We followed the collective health method of Queiroz & Egry authors.

Nowadays, it is increasingly common to have dental implants rehabilitated, which has the function of playing the same role as the root of a lost tooth, returning a more aesthetic and reliable smile to the patient. It is a piece of biocompatible titanium that will be attached to the bone to replace one or more teeth. When evaluating a patient who will be submitted to the placement of implants, we must take into account the systemic health, hygiene and some medications used by it, especially the bisphosphonates (BP).

Association between temporomandibular disorder and low back pain in undergraduate students from Brazil

Objective: To verify the prevalence and association between temporomandibular disorder and low back pain in undergraduate students from Brazil. Methods:Analyptical cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach, carried out on 600 undergraduate students from the University Center of Sciences and Technology of Maranhão, in the city of Caxias. The Fonseca Anamnestic Index was used to assess the prevalence of temporomandibular disorderand the Brazil’s Economic Classification Criterion to characterize the economic class of the students.

True or myth? sternal fractures and aortic rupture - a twenty year study

Aim of the study: To determine the relation between sternal fracture and aortic rupture between Nosocomial and Necrotomic population. Material and Methods: It is a two different group study. Patients admitted with sternal fracture (Nosocomial population NOP) and Necrotomic population NEP. It is a twenty year study. The NOP study includes 134 patients with sternal fracture diagnosed and admitted in the department of Thoracic Surgery of Nicaea –Greece, during a twenty year period.

Quantitative evaluation of surface water pollution by antibiotic residues in Yaounde of Cameroon

Many studies have been undertaken in order to find pollutants of anthropic origin found in surface waters. Recently discovered we reported the emergence of water pollution by drugs. Although present at little concentrations, the water pollution by antibiotics can be at the origin of health and environmental risks which must not be neglected. In order to quantitate their presence in domestic and hospital waste, two molecules of antibiotics: Ciprofloxacin (CIPX) and Ceftriaxone (CFX) have been the subject of this study.

Advance directives: perception of palliative care nurses

Introduction: A qualitative, exploratory, descriptive study carried out in two public oncology hospitals in the Brazilian northeast. Objective: to understand the perceptions of nurses working in palliative care about the advance directives of the terminal patient. Methodology: the data were obtained by open unstructured interview with 10 nurses and supported in Content Analysis. Results: two themes were constructed in which Nurses' knowledge about the anticipated directives of will and meanings for nurses about the implementation of the anticipated directives in the hospital scope.
