Hedges as metadiscourse in Pakistani english newspaper editorials: a corpus-based study

Hedges are uncertainty markers that writers use to soften and make a writer’s uncertain about the contents. Hedges as metadiscourse in Pakistani English Newspaper Editorials (PENE) have been analysed. This is a corpus-based study. A corpus of 1000 editorials in Pakistani English Newspapers such as Dawn News (DN), The Express Tribune (TET), The News (TN) and The Frontier (TF) has been developed for this research study. 250 editorials from each newspaper has been taken from online sources.

Effect of ginger extract on the physicochemical and sensory properties of yoghurt

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of ginger extracts on the physicochemical and sensory properties of yoghurt. Six ginger extracts were obtained by decoction, maceration at room temperature and at refrigerated conditions (4- 6°C) of ginger paste and powder.Yoghurt were obtained by adding each extract at0%, 5%, 10% and 15% (V/V).Physicochemical properties of yoghurt samples (pH, titratable acidity, dry matter, ash, fat, and non-fat solid) were determined at day 0.

Impact of vermicomposts generated through various resources in improving mulberry (morus alba l.) crop production

A field experiment was carried out at Regional Sericultural Research Station, Kodathi, Bangalore during 2014-16 to evaluate the impact of vermicomposts generated through the use of various resource materials such as silkworm rearing residue (SRR), seri-farm residue (SFR), avenue tree debris (ATD) and municipal corporation waste (MCW) in combination with recommended dose of NPK and FYM in mulberry.

Correlation between the short-form 36 (sf-36) health survey and the chronic liver disease questionnaire (cldq) in chronic liver disease patients

Background/Aims: Patients with chronic liver disease (CLD) had a variety of symptoms which influenced their life activities and health-related quality of life (HR-QOL). However, evaluated methodology HR-QOL of CLD patients has not been fully established. In this study, we evaluated the relationships between the Short Form-36 (SF-36) and the Chronic Liver Disease Questionnaire (CLDQ). Materials and Methods: HR-QOL was assessed using SF-36 and CLDQ in 130 CLD without hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients and 51 healthy volunteers (Controls).

Situating growing gender violence and sexual harasment of working women at work place in India

Violence against women is the worst form of crime against humanity, and has become the most baffling and bourgeoning problem in 21st Century. Sexual harassment of women at work place in India has taken the worst form of crime against women, and Odisha is no way lagging behind. The Act of insensitivity has taken the ugliest form in Odisha too. The present Paperhas attempted to unfold the objective reality pertaining gender exploitation and crime against women in form of sexual harassment of Women at work place.

Knowledge of users and professionals of primary health care about leprosy

This study aimed to describe the knowledge of users and health professionals in the context of Primary Health Care (PHC) on leprosy. This is an exploratory-descriptive research, under a qualitative approach, developed from September 2014 to September 2015, in Sobral, Ceará, Brazil. The study subjects were users of PHC in health services, with or without leprosy, and mid-level health professionals, in the categories of auxiliary and nursing technicians and community health agents. Information was collected through semi-structured interviews.

Total quality management in healthcare organization

This research examines the importance of Total quality management in hospitals and it can be achieved through friendly organizational culture, leadership skills, technical support and quality planning in hospital. For this purpose a survey has been conducted in which we selected 50 medical students as they have a best views and ideas regarding improvement of quality in healthcare organization. The hypothesis shown that, there is a significant relationship between technical skills and instrument in order to maximize the quality improvement in hospitals.

Diversity and distribution of the genus schifnerula and its synanamorphs in India

The genus Schiffnerula represented by 96 species in India with the anamorphic genera: Mitteriella (1), Questieriella (11), Sarcinella (49) and the teleomorph Schiffnerula (35). All the taxa are listed with their host plants along with their localities. Distributional map is provided. These fungi represented in eleven states in southern, central and north-eastern states of India but Kerala and Karnataka hold more number of species because of their intensive collection. These may represent in other regions of India but are to be collected and studied.

Immunization: A necessity, or a prohibition for Muslims?

Immunization is one of the internationally recognised medical preventive measures against a number of diseases. It is undertaken under the auspices of International Organizations like the World Health Organization (W.H.O.), many national governmental health departments and agencies. Various methods are employed by medical experts for its execution, which are so far yielding positive results for eradication and minimizing spread of some diseases.
