Characterization of patients with wounds of a reference health unit in campo grande- ms

Wounds cause enormous expenses to the public coffers due to delayed treatment, difficulty in healing, deficits in human and material resources, old age, basic diseases, low self-esteem and a decrease in quality of life.Although "wounds" are the subject of several researches developed worldwide, there are still few studies in Brazil that characterize patients and their wounds. The purpose of this manuscript was to characterize patients with wounds treated at a reference health unit in the city of Campo Grande - MS- Brazil.

Socket-shield modified technique: ridge preservation from a case report

The buccal lamella is compromised by the extraction, to such an extent that this part of alveolar bone is insufficiently nourished, leading to its total or partial resorption. In order to overcome the negative consequences of tooth extraction various methods have been described in the literature such as hard and soft tissue augmentation following extraction with or without immediate implant placement. Socket shield technique seems to be a good alternative for immediate implant placement.

The application of cone beam computed tomography in orthodontics

The recent advances in dentistry have noted to prove very advantageous in comparison to the conventional techniques such as radiographs. One such advancement is Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), a medical imaging technique comprising of X-Ray computed tomography. This imaging modality is extremely useful as an advanced, and now preferred method for detailed diagnosis and treatment planning for patients requiring Orthodontic treatment.

Evaluation and Management of Neck Trauma

Aim: A literature review was undertaken to discuss the assessment and management of this injuries to find out thecurrent evidence and guidelines that support surgical management of Penetrating neck injuries. Introduction: The neck region contains a high density of vital organ structures in a relatively small and unprotected anatomic region, making it one of the most vulnerable areas of the body for all types of injuries.25Penetrating neck injuries (PNIs) and stab wounds are not uncommon in the Iran.

In vitro comparison of microleakage in class v cavities using self etch adhesives and restorative resins-a systematic review

Background: Adhesion of restorative material to tooth structure in class v cavities is challenging due to margins lying on enamel and cementum. Sealing ability of newer generations of self etch adhesives have claimed to be better than the previously introduced dentin bonding adhesives. The aim of this review is to evaluate bonding efficacy of self etch adhesives in class V cavities. Study Eligibility Criteria: The inclusion criteria were articles in English or those having detailed summary in English, published between 2009 to 2017.

Secondary haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis in an immuno-competent patient of extrapulmonary tuberculosis

Haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) results when critical regulation of natural termination of immune/inflammatory responses is disrupted or overwhelmed. The predominant clinical findings of HLH are fevers (often hectic and persistent), pancytopenias, hepatitis and hepatomegaly and splenomegaly. The diagnosis is established by fulfilling one of the HLH 2004 criteria. A 55 years male patient presented with fever, abdominal pain and abdominal distension. Examination revealed cervical lymphadenopathy. and hepato-splenomegaly.

Traumatic diaphragmatic injury in patients with multiple rib fractures (Flail chest): A retrospective study

Traumatic diaphragmatic injury has been found in 3%–8% of pa¬tients undergoing surgical exploration after blunt trauma and in 10% of patients with penetrating trauma (Larici et al., 2002; Nchimi et al., 2005). Traumatic diaphragmatic injury (TDI) needs early diagnosis and operation. However, the early diagnosis is usually difficult, especially in the patients without diaphragmatic hernia. The rate of initial¬ly missed diagnoses on computed tomography (CT) ranges from 12% to 63%.

Comparison of parents and child perception: related to parenting efficacy and childhood obesity Ludhiana, Punjab, India

Parents play an important role in obesity prevention. Children rely on their parents to guide their eating and activity behaviors. Rising prevalence of obesity in children is a critical issue globally. The present study was done to describe child and parents perception of parenting efficacy participating in GOH, Gift of Health through nutrition and exercise intervention program related to BMI. A descriptive cross sectional study done on 100 parents and children selected by convenient sampling.

The effect of Intrapleural analgesia in patients operated for flail chest

Objective: Chest wall injury is an extremely common following blunt trauma. It varies in severity from minor bruising or an isolated rib fracture to server crush injuries. About 10% of adult patients in high-energy trauma sustain multiple rib fractures. Some of these patients suffer from flail chest leading to respiratory insufficiency. IPA administration is one of the different methods for providing perioperative analgesia in various upper abdominal surgeries like cholecystectomy, renal surgery and breast surgery.

Health, frontier and anthropology: interwoven dialogues

Background: The study of frontier regions involves several areas of action. Thus, it is necessary to study and demonstrate the importance of establishing dialogue between the two areas of knowledge, apparently theoretically and methodologically distant, but which resemble each other in terms of their object of scientific interest: man and his numerous interlocutions with the biological and socio-cultural world. Objective: This research was carried out with the objective of delineating some aspects related to the frontier and its intersections with the areas of health and anthropology.
