A one-year analysis of patient complaints regarding healthcare services in qurayyat city, Saudi Arabia

Objectives: To evaluate and classify patients’ complaints regarding the healthcare services in Qurayyat in order to categorise the nature of these queries and focus on the areas that require intercession for improvement. Background: Patient complaints are beneficial and can be used for assessing healthcare services and working to meet public expectancy of healthcare schemes. Nonetheless, no investigation has been conducted to address patient queries in Qurayyat.

Unveiling knowledge and practices of Brazilian community health agents on uterine cancer

Objective: to analyze the knowledge and practices of Brazilian community health agents on the prevention of uterine cancer. Method: convergent assistance research, with a qualitative approach. Thirteen community health workers participated in the interview stage. The analysis of the information was based on the Bardin content analysis. Results: there was recognition of the importance of cytopathological examination for the prevention of cancer and doubt about the recommended interval for the examination.

Effects of acupuncture in the treatment of temporomandibular dysfunctions

Tempormandibular dysfunctions (TMDs) are the non-dental pains that most affect the orofacial region, which are multifactorial and difficult to treat. Acupuncture is a therapy that has been used with great success in the treatment of TMDs, since it acts locally in muscle relaxation and pain control, seeking the physical, mental and emotional balance of the patient. Objective: To carry out a review of the literature, evaluating the results obtained in the researches that relate acupuncture as a treatment for temporomandibular joint pain, be it joint or muscular pain.

Being elderly and living with leprosy: an analysis of the quality of life

Introduction: When the individual, in addition to the elderly condition, is affected by a stigmatizing disease like leprosy, he can suffer significant interference in his aging process, which reflects on their quality of life. Methods: Descriptive study, using a form of identification and the following instruments: WHOQOL – bref and WHOQOL – OLD. Participants in the study were elderly, affected by leprosy, in outpatient treatment. Data analysis was carried out through the EpiInfo 7 program and Microsoft Excel software.

The society of the mask: the social function of worship of the zangbetos in West Africa

In West Africa, more specifically in Togo, Benin and Senegal, an ancestral cult is practiced whose venerated entity is called Zangbeto, a term meaning guardians of the night. They act as if they were unofficial police authorities, guarding the streets, taking care of the protection of the place and the people. Zangbetos are represented by figures wrapped in structures made of straw, wood and other materials. During ceremonies, these entities display themselves by dancing and/or spinning in the center of ritual spaces.

Death and the right to die: a philosophical reflection in the light of contemporary hermeneutics

The present philosophical essay aims to reflect on questions related to the prolongation of the biological life of the individual beyond its autonomy, under Gadamer's Philosophical Hermeneutics. The dying process takes on different meanings for people of different cultures. For some people, it means the end of everything, for others, it is a passage to a better or worse life. Health professionals have the arduous task of dealing directly with pain and suffering, and have the responsibility for determining prognoses and treatments.

Evaluation of dental enamel union resistance containing remaining resins from debonded orthodontic bracket after different treatments and time periods

Dental treatment takes place in a multidisciplinary way, being fundamental the association between different specialties to reach aesthetic and functional excellence. The aim of this study was to evaluate dental enamel bond strength from resinous extensions remaining from orthodontic bracket debond, after different treatments and periods of storage. 60 dental units were randomly divided into 3 treatment groups: MD (multilaminated drill), MD + B (multilaminated drill followed by aluminum oxide blasting) and C (control). All groups had orthodontic brackets bonded and then debonded.

Horta conceptual model: critical analysis of the meaning under walker and avant’s optics

Nursing theories represent one of the elements that compose the specific language in order to consolidate the nursing knowledge. The objective of this study is to analyze the concepts meaning of the Basic Human Needs Conceptual Model, proposed by Wanda Horta. Theoretical-reflexive study carried out from June to October 2017, based on the Significance component of the Critical Analysis of Theory model, proposed by Walker and Avant. The conceptual model of Basic Human Needs, present concepts that give meaning to nursing practice.

Evaluation of the implantation of the national neonatal screening program regarding coverage index, disease prevalence and sickle cell trait in mato grosso do sul - Brazil: 2001 – 2015

The National Neonatal Screening Program (PNTN) was implemented in Brazil in 2001. This program aims to improve coverage over 15 years and the prevalence of sickle cell disease and sickle cell trait. The objective of this manuscript was to evaluate in the last 15 years the work developed by the National Neonatal Screening Program regarding the coverage index, disease prevalence and sickle cell trait in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. It is a cross-sectional retrospective study carried out with the results of neonatal screening for hemoglobinopathies from 2001 to 2015.

A review on ggbs, paper sludge and laterite soil in brick manufacturing

Bricks are one of the common building material around the world. In many areas there is already a shortage of natural material for production of the conventional bricks. As the demand of clay increases the cost also increases. An alternate method to decrease the usage of clay is by incorporating the waste material into the clay bricks. The utilisation of these wastes will help to reduce the negative effects of their disposal. This paper presents a review on utilization of waste materials to produce bricks.
