Principal’s executive techniques for handling students’ desruptive behaviour in secondary schools’ in Ebonyi state

The study investigated principals’ executive techniques for handling students’ disruptive behaviour in secondary schools in Ebonyi state of Nigeria. It is a descriptive survey research work carried in Ebonyi state, south eastern part of Nigeria. The study was guided by two research questions and two hypotheses, all derived from the purpose of the study. The population of the study consists of 221 principals and 2154 SS3 students. The sample size of 222 respondents comprising 7 principals and 215 students were selected using purposive simple random sampling technique.

Genetically modified food: the precautionary principle for technological innovations in international law

The main goal of this study is to analyze the idea of sustainable development, starting from a detailed reading of the principles that guide Environmental Law, especially the precautionary principle. In this way, we seek to delimit the fine line between the promotion of socioeconomic development and the degradation of the environment, within the paradigm of a Risk Society. A more specific analysis is carried out with regard to genetically modified food in order to seek a balanced decision between its benefits and the irreversibility of the damage caused by them.

Low oxidative DNA damage in patients with tropical spastic paraparesis by HTLV-1

Tropical spastic paraparesis is a myelopathy caused by HTLV -1 virus, whose pathogenesis is yet not clear, being the most likely hypothesis to be due TAX viral protein activity that increases the production of reactive oxygen species, resulting in transformation, cell immortalization, DNA damage and disease .The aim of this study was to evaluate oxidative DNA damage in patients with tropical spastic paraparesis by HTLV 1 treated at a referral service in Belém, Pará, Brazil. Methods: It was a retrospective study involving adults.

Spiritist “PASSE” (SPIRITUAL HEALING) has no effects in a carcinogenesis drosophila melanogaster assay

Background: Spiritist “passe” is a type of Layingon of hands (LOH) commonly adopted in Latin America countries and there are no studies investigating this practice in animal models. Objective: Evaluate the effects of Spiritist “passe” (spiritual healing) in the animal model Drosophila melanogaster by using Epithelial Tumor Test.

Physiological plant responses to phosphorus deficiency: A literature review

Phosphorus (P) is a macronutrient that performs functions in several physiological processes, becoming essential for the proper growth and development of plants. P limiting conditions, causes several damages, since it affects the cell homeostasis, promoting reductions in the photosynthetic rate, in respiration, and consequently can cause reductions in the production of cultures. This review shows the advances in the understanding of the physiological mechanisms of plants to increase the efficiency in the absorption of P under limiting conditions.

Effects of convective drying in fixed bed on content and composition of essential oils from Croton cajucara Benth. And Ocimum micranthum Willd

This study investigated how operating conditions in convective drying in fixed bed influences affects yield and composition of the essential oils of sacaca (Croton cajucara Benth) and alfavaca (Ocimum micranthum Willd). The essential oil yields were highest (0.48% w/w for sacaca and 4.66% w/w for alfavaca) with 100 g of moist leaves, 0.47 m/s of drying air velocity and 60 °C of drying air temperature. Low temperatures and low loads of wet material (2.19 mol/L) produced the highest content of linalool, a major compound of sacaca essential oil.

Effect of acute babassu mesocarp flour supplementation (ORBIGNYA PHALERATA MART.) on aerobic capacity, oxidative stress, and muscle damage in recreational runners: A randomized, crossover, placebo-controlled study

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of acute babassu mesocarp flour (BM) supplementation on aerobic capacity, oxidative stress, and muscle damage in recreational runners. 14 men (26,4±8,3 years) were randomly assigned and ingested one single dose of (BM) and maltodextrin (PLA) supplements and performed the 3200m running test. There was a 7-days washout period between each supplementation. Biochemical parameters such as serum glucose, malondialdehyde, creatine kinase, and lactate dehydrogenase were evaluated.
