Visiting restricted areas of a nuclear facility via a virtual reality simulator

The Instituto de Engenharia Nuclear (IEN) is a nuclear research facility whose main research lines comprehend non-destructive essays with thermal neutrons in biology, industry, environment and national public security. IEN is a restricted areas access composed by several laboratories, a particle accelerator and a nuclear research reactor known as the Argonauta.

Health risk behavior excels in high socioeconomic class among adolescents

Objective: to estimate the prevalence of risk behaviors to health and its association with sociodemographic characteristics among adolescents. Materials and Methods: Socioeconomic information and health risk behaviors were collected from 2207 adolescents enrolled in public schools in Sergipe State, Northeastern, Brazil. Results: Females were associated with low levels of physical activity (PR=1.19; IC95%=1.15 – 1.24) and more than two hours watching TV (PR=1.07; IC95%=1.01-1.14).

A study on proximate mineral composition of plantain (musa paradisiaca) wastes; a potential nutritive source in the formulation of animal feeds

Plantain fruit constitute an important source of energy as a staple diet in the tropics. The peel of the fruit is discarded as waste after the edible portion is eaten; thereby constituting a menace to the environment, especially where its consumption is common, while the bracts are left on the farm as wastes. This research work has comprehensively investigated the presence of proximate mineral composition and secondary metabolites in the Musa Paradisiaca bract waste by using standard methods of AOAC.

Analysis of alternative current field detection signals based on complex surface defects

Alternating Current Filed Measurement (ACFM) and Alternating Current Magnetic Flux Leakage (AC-MFL) method have been widely used in engineering practice. They both use U-shaped yoke probes and are basically the same in the probe and signal processing. In actual inspection, the shape of the defect is usually complicated, and a single defect or several defects may occur at the same time. Multiple defects may appear as cross-shaped cross cracks, round-hole defects, and parallel cracks.

A proposal for installation, operaticon, and performance qualification protocol for hot cells for radiopharmaceuticals production

Background: According to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), "quality assurance" is an all planned and systematic set of actions that are necessary to guarantee that a product or service will satisfy the requirements as to quality. As such, it is comprehensive and covers all relevant procedures, activities, and actions. This article aims to present a proposal for a checklist to be performed in the installation, operation and performance qualification for hotcells in agreement with the relevant standards recommendations.

Memories’ merit to the recognition of forest garden aqueduct as a historical heritage of state of bahia

The Forest Garden Aqueduct in the Department of Technology and Social Sciences – DTCS, Campus III, at the University of State of Bahia – UNEB is an architectural and landscape highlight that is not a historical heritage of the State of Bahiayet, although its importance. This paper searches for demonstrate the importance of perception and memory to the preservation and (re)signifying of the work and its history, arousing the community consciousness into the social, cultural and ecologic identity context, through the sense sciences, enabled by phenomenological studies.

Analysis of physical activity as an integral element of active aging

Lifestyle can accelerate or slowdown the involution and deterioration of the different abilities. This research shows that if people over sixty five years old (EA 65+) practice physical activity on a regular basis, the progressive and generalised deterioration of bodily functions, the onset of dementia and degenerative diseases can slow down, while extending autonomy and reducing limitations in daily life. Objectives: 1. Study and analyse experts’ opinion regarding physical activity (PA) practice so that aging remains active. 2.

Trends of technological innovation in herbal products

The therapeutic properties of plants are greatly explored by the pharmaceutical industries, they are sources of innovation for industrial property. Formulation of new products can be protected through the patent deposits, market strategy used by companies and researchers in the industry. Therefore, this research aims to conduct a survey of patents related to herbal therapeutic products to trace the technological profile and analyze trends in the use of plant genetic resources in its composition.

The role of educational research in teaching chemistry

An overview of the relationship between educational research and teaching chemistry is presented, covering the opportunity areas between production and science popularization (dissemination of scientific knowledge). Knowledge apprehension and appropriation are also discussed in the educational context of UNAM, in Facultad de Estudios SuperioresCuautitlán. Links between scientific and pedagogical training are defined by considering educational research as a means to broaden the theoretical and methodological options for chemistry teaching.

The influence of different types of manure and planting distance towards the growth and development of plants white mustard (Brassica juncea l.)

Mustard plant is one of a potentially great horticultural crops are to be developed. Although generally cultivated mustard plants on the plateau, but there are varieties that can adapt, developed and high production in the lowlands as long as the grant of the right fertilizer. The purpose of this research was: 1) to know the influence of the type of fertilizer and planting distance towards the growth and development of plant mustard greens.
