Knowledge of community people about the rights of terminal patients

Scientific and technological developments in health have improved treatment options and assistance, conveying increases in life expectancy. Despite this, literature is still scarce in research about the rights of terminal patients. This information allows the vindication of a dignified and respectful health care, besides contributing to the exercise of autonomy. Thus, the aim of this study was to identify the knowledge and respect for the rights of terminal patients by community people. This was an exploratory, descriptive study with a quantitative approach.

Health education in the perioperative of cardiac surgery

Objective: to report the experience as nurse in the process of nursing guidance and care clarification to patients in the PERIOPERATIVE of cardiac surgery. Method: descriptive research, type experience relation about the PERIOPERATIVE of cardiac surgery in a public hospital from July 2017 to May 2018. Conclusion: the orientation of nursing in patients in the PERIOPERATIVE of cardiac surgery is a alternative to prevent of avoidable complications and prepare for patient discharge from hospital.

Extracorporeal membrane oxigenation (ecmo): Main complications

The Extracorporeal Membrane Oxigenation (ECMO) is considered a complex circulatory assistance therapy, requiring a multidisciplinary work for its use. Although there has been a significant increase in the rates of use of this hemodynamic support in recent years, with greater safety, complications can still be observed. In this context, the present study aims to identify the main complications during ECMO. It is configured in an integrative review of literature consisting of national and international scientific articles on the subject indexed in the period from 2010 to 2016.

A case report of an acquired double pylorus in a nigerian patient

An acquired double pylorus is a rare complication of peptic ulcer disease that is seen in only about 0.04 % of all upper GI endoscopies. It usually occurs as a result of a penetrating ulcer into duodenumin which case it’s called an acquired gastro duodenal fistula. A double pylorus may occasionally be a congenital occurrence. We present a case of a 57 year old Nigerian who came in with upper GI bleeding and epigastric pain following ingestion of Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for a dislocated joint.

A rare dramatic presentation of anaplastic carcinoma of thyroid: Case report

Anaplastic carcinoma of thyroid are highly aggressive and lethal tumors and carries a dismal prognosis.we report a case of anaplastic carcinoma of thyroid in a 53 year old male patient with simultaneous lung and small bowel metastasis presented as small bowel perforation in a short span of time leaving us bewildered. We are presenting this case because we were unable to find a report of simultaneous metastases of anaplastic carcinoma of thyroid to lung and small bowel in English literature.

Minimal intervention dentistry for children with latest advancements

This Dawson and Makinson were the first to use the term minimal interventional dentistry (also referred to now as minimally invasive dentistry [MID]). This model stresses early caries detection and risk assessment, re-mineralization of demineralized enamel and dentin, caries prevention, minimally invasive operative procedures, and means to repair rather than replace restorations. The main goal of minimal intervention is to increase the life of the teeth, which was restored with less intervention.

Merits and demerits of statins, a cholesterol lowering agent-A review

Background: Statins are themselves the most common class of drugs may be synthetic in origin or derived from microorganisms used to treat hypercholesterolemia. An increasing number of patients are turning to and using statins as to combat hypercholesterolemia. However, a comprehensive and objective examination of the merits and demerits of said use is required as to properly guide physicians and patients. The intensity of self-reported pain in undergraduate students with temporomandibulardisorder and symptoms of depression: A case-control study

Objective: To analyze the possible association of self-reported painful spots on the face between undergraduate students with temporomandibular disorder and depression. Methods: Analytical, cross-sectional, case-control study with 763 students from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of Maranhão. Thirty students were diagnosed with severe TMD (case group), which were matched by age and sex in a proportion of 1:2 with the control group: people without TMD diagnosis and without symptoms of depression.

Perspectives of foreign university students on healthcare services used in Brazil

Objective: The aim of this study was to get to know the perspective of foreign students from Portuguese-speaking countries on Brazil’s healthcare services. Methodology: This is a mixed study, with a descriptive and exploratory approach, conducted in the city of Redenção-CE, at a Brazilian federal public international university. Results: A total of 152 foreign university students living in Brazil participated in the study. The participants were essentially male (65.8%), mostly within the 20–24 year age group (63.1%).

Analysis sleep apnea using machine learning: One possibility

Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a public health problem, sometimes under-reported due to the difficulty in its diagnosis. Therefore, health professionals seek alternative diagnostic methods based on clinical and epidemiological parameters. Here, was evaluated the predictive capacity of the anthropometric and clinical parameters of the free access database provided by Penzel et al7 and Dublin Sleep Apnea Database of the University Hospital / University College of St. Vincent in the diagnosis of OSA. The database is composed of 56 participants of both sexes, aged between 27 and 63 years.
