Peritoneal tuberculosis presented as chronic diarrhoea

Peritoneal Tuberculosis is a rare extra-pulmonary presentation of tuberculosis. It caused by strains of mycobacterium, usually mycobacterium tuberculosis. Even though TB has been declining in incidence in the developing country like SriLanka, it remains a main problem in endemic areas of the developing world. A wide spectrum of clinical presentation could be observed in peritoneal tuberculosis, making it a huge diagnostic challenge. Here we reported a case of a young boy was investigated for chronic diarrhea, ultimately diagnosed as peritoneal tuberculosis.

Accessory gallbladder: - a radiological, surgical challenge and anatomic variation a rare congenital anomaly of gallbladder and accessory appendage

Accessory Gallbladder is an extremely rare anomalous condition, with the advent of state of the art imaging modalities it is possible now to diagnose the anomaly appropriately, pre-operatively and treatment can be perform with precision. We present here one such case from our clinical practice. Open surgery for removal of such abnormalities are useful for accessory gallbladder (intra hepatic positive) which lies structurally closed to right or left hepatic duct or other vascular structure.

Overload for family member caregivers of people with mental disorders

Objective: to evaluate the overload for family caregivers of people with mental disorders, through the Familial Overload Assessment Scale (FOAS-BR). Method: descriptive and quantitative study. Participants were 42 family members from two hospitals in the northwest region of Rio Grande do Sul, in the year 2014. The sociodemographic Scale and Questionnaire was used to collect data. Ethical aspects have been respected. Results: of the caregivers, 78.57% are female, from 51 to 60 years old, mothers.

Objective: To analyse the distribution of Family Health Support Centres (NASF) modalities in Paraíba – Brazil, its professional profile and the evaluation of NASF by family health teams. Method: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study, with a quantitative approach. Data was collect from the databases of: Brazilian Institute for Geography and Statistics, Department of Information Technology of Brazilian Unified Health System, National Registry for Health Establishments and Secretary of Health of the State of Paraíba.

Effect of guided imagery on test anxiety among nursing students

The study was aimed to assess the effectiveness of guided imagery on test anxiety among nursing students. An experimental research design was used on 100 B.Sc (N) 1st year students studying in DMCH College of Nursing and Institute of Nursing Education Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Hospital, Ludhiana. The convenience sampling was used to select the colleges and then by using lottery method 50 students were selected from DMCH College of Nursing as an experimental group and 50 students were selected from the Institute of Nursing Education Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib Hospital as control group.

Perception of educational institutional evaluation by the disciplinary body of an ies of northeast Brazil: a case study

This work aims to investigate with the student body of an institution of higher education the contribution of the Institutional Educational Evaluation for the improvement of a higher education institution (HEI) of the Brazilian Northeast in the view of the students. A descriptive exploratory study with a quantitative approach was carried out with 102 students from four higher courses of an HEI. It was verified that in relation to the genus, it was observed that the major parts of the students were females with a mean age of 25.30 ± 6.33 years.

Carie care’ a novel method of caries removal and its effectiveness: A randomised clinical trial

Context: Newer methods of caries removal have been developed as an alternative to conventional methods to overcome few of these drawbacks. Chemo-mechanical caries removal (CMCR) is one such alternative and is based on the concepts of minimal invasive dentistry. Aim: To evaluate and compare the effectiveness of chemo-mechanical caries removing agent (carie- care) with conventional drilling method (CDM). Settings and Design: A randomised controlled clinical trial to evaluate the effectiveness and patient compliance using conventional and chemo-mechanical caries removal method.

Obstructive sleep apnea: potential role of dentist

The review article sheds light upon obstructive sleep apnea and the potential role of a dentist in its diagnosis and treatment. Obstructive Sleep Apnea affects children and adults due to factors ranging from obesity to several conditions that leads to the narrowing of upper airway. The disease is often left undiagnosed and the long-term effects could be harmful. Polysomnography, which is a sleep study, is a standard for establishing a diagnosis. If the condition is not diagnosed and treated, it would lead to a poor quality of life and life-threatening conditions.
