The impact of child abuse to the dentocraniofacial growth in children

The community has become increasingly aware of child abuse in society. Child abuse is the non accidental physical injuries which are within the scope of dentistry or easily observed by dental professional in the course of routine dental treatment. This paper will discuss the importance of an early recognition by dental practioners because a high proportion of abused children suffer injuries to the face and head, including the oral and perioral region which could have an impact to dento-craniofacial growth and development in children.

Ohvira syndrome – a case report

Back ground: OHVIRA syndrome is a very rare congenital Uro-genital anomaly associated with both the Mullerian (paramesonephric) and Wolffian (mesonephric) systems. It is characterized by a triad, OHV – Obstructed Hemi vagina, IRA—Ipsilateral Renal Agenesis with associated uterus didelphs. Mullerian Duct anomalies 0.8-4% of the women who came for evaluation of infertility. OHVIRA syndrome-0.1-3.5% of the Mullerian Duct Anamoly. Aims: To discuss and analyse the radiological and embryological co-relation in OHVIRA syndrome and study the genesis of both the urinary and genital systems.

Müllerian duct anomalies – a spectrum of imaging anatomy

Background: Müllerian duct anomalies (MDA) are uncommon but can be a treatable form of infertility. Patients with MDA are known to have higher incidences of infertility, repeated first trimester spontaneous abortions, foetal intra-uterine growth retardation, foetal mal-position, pre-term labour and retained placenta. Aim: The purpose of this study is to identify and categorise Müllerian Duct anomalies using MRI as an imaging modality and to describe the embryological and genetic basis of them.

Effect of structured demonstration on aseptic wound dressing among the nursing students of INE GTBS (c) Hospital Ludhiana, Punjab

A Pre experimental study was conducted among the 300 nursing students of Institute of nursing education, Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib (C) Hospital, Ludhiana. Information was collected with the help of self structured checklist. The tool for data collection included socio-demographic variables and checklist consisting of items related to steps of aseptic wound dressing technique. Structured Check list was used to collect data regarding technique of aseptic wound dressing, which contain 40 items regarding aseptic wound dressing. Data were coded, validated and analyzed using SPSS (version 18).

Status of rural women engaged in floriculture activities

The study was conducted in the purposively selected block Gaighata of the purposively selected district of North 24 Parganas in West Bengal, India to know the status of rural women engaged in floriculture activities. The data was collected from the randomly selected 100 respondents of the block with the help of a pre-tested structured interview schedule. Collected data were compiled and analysed statistically. It was found that the majority of the respondents did not take any govt. help and they were not having any idea about new technology related to floriculture.

Assessment of anxiety symptoms in adults with acne vulgaris

Background: Acne vulgaris has been associated with psychiatric and psychological problems and it is one of the leading causes of anxiety in adolescents and adults. Aim of this study: To assess the link between anxiety symptoms and patients with acne vulgaris in relation to the severity of the disease, its localization and socio-demographic data. Material and Methods: A transverse cross-sectional study was undertaken from January 2010 to September 2011. In it participated 360 patients with acne vulgaris and 289 healthy individuals, of both sexes, 18-35 years old.

Depression among medical students at qassim university rate, severity, and contributing factors; using BDI II

Background: Medical education is an intensely competitive program; students go through severe stress while in it. They are known to be the victims of tremendous mental stress. They experience a variety of psychological changes in their medical school life from young insecure students to excellent physicians. Depression among medical students is an area of increasing concern worldwide. Objective: To determine the Depression rate among medical students at different levels of education, taking gender differences into account and find out their contributing factors.

Detection of eating disorders in university students using scoff questionnaire

Eating disorders are the group of conditions characterized by abnormal eating habits, EDs such as Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorders and Eating Disorders Not Otherwise Specified EDNOS are common both in western countries and non western countries. Recently, the prevalence of eating disorders has also been reported in several Asian countries including Pakistan. EDs are most common in students particularly University students. The purpose of this study is to screen the students of Sindh University for the likelihood of eating disorders using SCOFF test.

A study of effects of Izterab-E-Nafsani (anxiety) and its management with reference to Unani system of medicine: A review

I chose this topic for the study about Izterab-e-Nafsani (anxiety) to make people aware about it as people usually think that it is an abnormal condition of the body. In fact, anxiety is a feeling that is necessary in order for human beings to live, whether they like it or not. There are both positive and negative effects of anxiety. Positive anxiety effects include alerting human beings of danger, motivating them to action, and physically preparing the body to fight or escape. The negative effects of anxiety include palpitation, irritability, poor concentration, memory loss and insomnia.
