Patient characteristics and diagnostic approach in appendectomised patients

In cases of acute appendicitis, when considering that typical symptoms are observed in only 60% of the patients, preoperative definite diagnosis carries some difficulties even for the most experienced surgeons. The necessity for diversification of diagnostic methods is a requirement to decrease the rate of negative appendectomy risk of the surgeon. The present study aimed to investigate the patient characteristics of cases who had undergone appendectomy due to acute appendicitis.

The impact of marine N-3 PUFA on coronary heart disease and sudden cardiac death- review

Objective: After few reports about protective effect on coronary heart disease, the therapeutic use of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid aroused .Many studies and meta-analyses have reported that the risk of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) and Cardiovascular (CV) death  reduced with the intake of fish and n-3 PUFA. n-3 PUFA may also modulate autonomic control of the heart because it’s abundant in the brain and other nervous tissue as well as in cardiac tissue. This might explain the protection against sudden cardiac death (SCD) by n-3 PUFA.

Gastrinoma: Importance of localization. Anatomical, surgical and diagnostic perspective

Gastrinoma is also commonly called as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It accounts for about 15- 20% of Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors. In These tumors There is excessive and overproduction of the hormone gastrin, leading to excessive secretion of gastric acid. The patients suffer from multiple and recurrent peptic ulcers that are in most cases resistant to medical treatment or that are in uncommon locations.

Tuberculoussacroilitis a rare cause of refractory low back ache - case report

Tuberculosis of sacroilic joints is a very rare cause of low back ache radiating to the thigh and requires a high index of suspicion for its diagnosis. Magnetic resonance imaging   is key to early diagnosis of this condition which may prevent further complications associated with it .It is  difficult to diagnose due to the vague and non-specific presentations. In a patient presenting with a unilateral destructive sacroiliac lesion, tuberculosis should always be in the differential diagnosis along with psoriatic arthropathy, Reiter's syndrome, and rheumatoid arthritis.
